THE MANDALORIAN Spinoff Announced For December 2021 - SPOILERS For Today's Finale Follow!

A new series (or standalone story) has been officially confirmed by Lucasfilm following today's episode of The Mandalorian, but be warned that there are spoilers here relating to the season two finale...

We're going to have a lot more for you on The Mandalorian after today's jaw-dropping episode very soon, but let's talk about that post-credits scene for a second.

After some concept art-free credits, a stinger takes us back to Tatooine. It's Jabba the Hutt's palace, and Bib Fortuna - looking quite a bit fatter than when we last saw him - in now in charge after his master's death. Suddenly, those serving him are gunned down, and Fennec Shand arrives.

As you might expect, she's joined by Boba Fett. Fortuna expresses his surprise that the bounty hunter is still alive (for those of you wondering, this scene takes place after the events of The Mandalorian's season two finale, so its not a flashback of any sort), but is almost immediately gunned down by Boba.

Fett then sits on the "throne" with a smirking Fennec at his side, presumably cementing himself as Tatooine's new ruler. With that, the screen goes black, but there's one more surprise:

The Book of Boba Fett - Coming December 2021

We don't know whether this is a standalone story on Disney+ or a new miniseries, but it appears we might be getting a Boba Fett show instead of The Mandalorian season 3 as originally expected.

More details are bound to be revealed later, so stay tuned for much more when we have it.

1. Rip Bib Fortuna

2. Din got the darksaber in combat and they took in Gideon???

3. “his blood will bring a new order to the galaxy” ...Makes sense. Further confirmation of Snoke/Palpatine cloning

4. Seeing Luke was incredible!! Something was just..off about his face? But I got past it easy at least first viewing

@Armageddon26 -

Also is it “The Mandalorian: The Book of Boba” like a semi-anthology? Or is it a proper spin-off??

@Armageddon26 - Yeah, it was similar to Tarkin and Leia in Rogue One...there's just something off about creating a face like that (the Marvel movies do it better, but even then you can tell they're not "real"). I can live with it when everything was so badass, though!

I do hope we get more details on the cloning stuff one day...

@Armageddon26 - I believe it’s supposed to be a mini series. Like not a full 8 episodes

Not confirmed though

Give Daniel Logan a role, at least some flashbacks. He has played the role more than anyone. Technically Mandalorian is the first temuera has played Boba, unless you could redubbing the original trilogy

Hope this is it for a while. We do not need a shit load of Star Wars shows, plus dont want to run out of ideas too fast

If Luke and Grogu are in season 3. Either improve CGI Luke or get Sebastian Stan. Id get not getting an actor if this is all he will be in. plus Stan is doing F&WS

RIP Jeremy Bullock.

But so pleased that his iconic character lives on especially following his passing. Not only that but this season has finally shown Boba to be as competent as he's supposed to be. That post credits scene where he takes Jaba's throne was like the nerd from Robot Chicken's wet dream.

Lukes face looked weird though. I want to watch the VFX breakdown of how they made him. I imagine they de-aged him like they did in TROS. Though it was Mark Hamill as the credits confirmed.

Mando giving up Baby to Luke was so emotional. Wish Luke had commented on how Grogu looked like his old Master, but it would have been unnecessary dialogue. But now I'm worried Luke will doom Baby Yoda when Kylo burns down the Jedi school. Mando needs to come back and rescue his son before that happens.

I wish he had said something to Bo Katan as well since she knew Anakin in Clone Wars. So many characters in the same episode but not enough time for them to all interact.

Good setup for season 3. Mando as the rightful ruler of Mandalore vs Bo Katan in a battle for the darksaber. It's going to be weird having a season without Baby now, but Mando could still visit him at Luke's school.

Overall amazing finale to an incredible season. As far as I'm concerned this is the real sequel trilogy. F*ck all those other movies Disney made. If Jon and Dave had been running the actual sequels we could have seen something truly satisfying and this show is a taste of that.

@IronMandarin - That was a stunt double, it only said Luke played by Mark Hamill because they used his likeness. That wasn't him slashing droids. I'm curious what Mark Hamill thinks of the scene though. It must feel so weird to see that.

@IronMandarin - does Luke know that bo Katan knew his father ? That would be a weird thing to say if he has no knowledge of her knowing him

Boba Fett and his sexy milf girlfriend taking over the criminal underworld on Tatooine is the most masturbatory bit of fanservice ever conceived... yet somehow they made it work.

@InfinitePunches - Personally, I've always thought Star Wars has always been at its best when it's doing masturbatory fan-service.

The Book of Boba Fett is its own series. Ahsoka and The Mandalorion stories will all converge into an Endgame finale, just like the MCU films.
