So far so good. This season can't come soon enough!

I trust Favreau and crew.

@L0RDbuckethead - Star Wars has a bright future with Favreau and crew.

I think they should have released two episodes instead of just one but I get it. Otherwise it was great. Has that spaghetti western and space cowboy vibe already which is refreshing for anything Star Wars.

The Mandalorian ‘feels’ like an old spaghetti western. When he arrives at the bar in the doorway...there was a cool theme tune in the background. A lot like the ‘whistle’ of Clint Eastwood’s Man With No Name.

Episode was action-packed and super cool. Even had some slow beats of the Mandalorian just walking through town that got you immersed in the world. Teased his backstory, Mandalorian culture, introduced main characters and set-up the season with a great surprise ending.

A pretty perfect pilot if you ask me.

I really thought they found the right balance of making Mandalorians cool and cryptic but without making them "look at me I'm such a 90's badass" that Boba Fett got a lot.

That [frick]ing Joe Johnston design is still so absurdly good that it's difficult to get over it, and they did a great job making this dude's armor feel natural and fallible and "realistic", but also functional. (Though, I'm not sure I dig the magic metal stuff.)

Really good episode, this is going to be such a great season! Everything about this show was well done. The cinematography, visuals, character designs, costumes, writing etc. were stellar.

The big action scene with the Mandalorian and IG-11 was great, that was freaking awesome. Really liked IG-11 too, shame to see him go as Taika was great (loved how he kept saying he was going to initiate self-destruct).

This show has expanded the SW mythos in a really exciting way, with just one episode. Can't wait to see where we go from here.

@HeavyMetal4Life - It showed how well you can play in the Star Wars universe without having to come up with some new gimmick (like hyperspace battering rams) or relying on nostalgia cameos or mystery boxes or any of the bag of tricks that the movies have done. (And I say this as someone who tends to like Episodes 7 and 8 more than I dislike them.)

It bums me out that we didn't get a chance for Star Wars to be this kind of thing going back to the 80's. Just about every genre of movie can be reskinned into the Star Wars universe in a way that can revitalize or reinvent that genre. For example, the western can play Cowboys and Indians while conveniently setting aside the historically problematic context. Plus, being Star Wars means you get to have more fun with design and creatures and puppets and all sorts of things that a traditional western can't.

The Mandalorian is a show that hints at a Star Wars franchise that could have been (or sort of did happen in books and video games before Lucas came back for the prequels).

@Spock0Clock - "The Mandalorian is a show that hints at a Star Wars franchise that could have been"

Definitely agree about that. This is what Star Wars should have been doing all these years.

Yep, it was really good.
This is what SW was destined to become.

Yeah, it was pretty good, pretty cool. It is really just like a high-budget fan film. I just hope that it stays this good. I also hope that it was meant for weekly consumption rather than in one big dose.

@Nebula - I think it was the hand-held camera effect that makes it look like a fan film. And the weekly release really keeps in line with the fanbase getting to guess what happens next

Two thumbs up. That's how Star Wars should/can be done. One part of me wants it all at once, but the sensible part wants it weekly so I can relish this longer. Was awesome to see the other Mandalorians. Glad that wasnt shown in the trailers as it made it a nice little surprise.

This was some great stuff to watch. And IG is obviously not dead since he appears in marketing material that wasn’t from this episode, my guess is that Mando is gonna fix and reprogram him. Anyway, I cant wait for more

@MalseMarcel - My guess too, even with how Taika discusses IG it definitely seems like he’ll be reprogrammed and back
