The first time Katee Sackhoff played Bo-Katan Kryze was over a decade ago, and after starring in The Clone Wars, the actress later reprised the role in Star Wars Rebels. However, she was finally given the chance to play the warrior in live-action during The Mandalorian's second season.
In a recent interview with Empire Online (via SFFGazette.com), Sackhoff talked about working on season 3 and revealed that executive producers Jon Favreau and Rick Famuyiwa would often come to her for advice on how best to handle this character.
"I've lived in this woman’s skin for a long time now," she reveals. "One of the things that Jon and I focus on is where she is in the moment, what peppers her experience. Jon and Rick, every single day, defer to me, which is a crazy experience, to have these masters asking me what I feel."
"It respects the craft, and the years that I have put in," Sackhoff continues. "I really do know her – her pain is my pain. When she experiences something, I really feel it."
With these comments comes a new look at Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian season 3, and we're sure fans of the character will appreciate seeing more of that badass helmet in all its live-action glory!
We know the hero wants the Darksaber, and it's easy to imagine that leading to a clash with Din Djarin. Given Bo-Katan's headstrong nature, we find it doubtful she'll willingly let him rule Mandalore in her place, anyway.
The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars Galaxy continue in season 3. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the Galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.
The series stars Pedro Pascal, Katee Sackhoff, Carl Weathers, Amy Sedaris, Emily Swallow and Giancarlo Esposito. The directors of the eight-episode season 3 include Rick Famuyiwa, Rachel Morrison, Lee Isaac Chung, Carl Weathers, Peter Ramsey, and Bryce Dallas Howard.
Favreau is the showrunner/head writer and serves as an executive producer along with Dave Filoni, Rick Famuyiwa, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist and Carrie Beck are co-executive producers.
The Mandalorian season 3 premieres on March 1.
