Back in 2021, Gina Carano was fired from The Mandalorian after sharing comments on social media that Lucasfilm deemed to be "abhorrent."

The former MMA fighter had been a source of controversy for quite some time leading up to this, but her posts appearing to infer that being a Republican today is comparable to being Jewish during the Holocaust were evidently the final straw.

Carano's character, Cara Dune, was going to play a significant role in the third season of The Mandalorian, but that's obviously not going to happen now.

Will her absence be addressed, or are we just meant to assume that the former Shock Trooper is off doing her thing in another part of the galaxy?

“Cara was a big part and continues as a character to be part of the world," EP and director Rick Famuyiwa tells Deadline. "It had to be addressed in the creative and Jon (Favreau) took the time to think about that. It was something that was discussed as we knew it was going to have impact on the show, but at the same time, what has been at the heart of the show are the two characters — Din Djarin and Grogu– so ultimately it felt like a servicing of that, and around the Mandalorians.”

“It’s a big galaxy and we have many characters in it," added Dave Filoni. "Many characters are fighting for their screen time, we’ll just have to see as the season unfolds what the adventures are, but it’s a great character, someone who was vital to Din Djarin’s beginnings; we’ll see if he has evolved beyond that.”

It sounds like Dune might get a brief mention, but Carano is highly unlikely to reprise the role, and we don't see the character being so vital to Din Djarin and Grogu's ongoing story that she'd need to be recast.

What do you guys think? Would you prefer to find out what became of Cara Dune, or would it make little difference to the series? Drop us a comment down below.

There going to mirror why Carrano really got fired and say that Cara compared something happening to the empire and some people got really offended by it even though it was an accurate comparison to make.

@mountainman - ''most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where the Empire could easily round up thousands of Jedi, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being force sensitive''

Not gonna lie, that could work. Just hope she doesn't start comparing the New Republic to the Empire.

@mountainman -

I don't recommend doing that.

@bkmeijer1 - I like that idea. Why not compare the New Republic to the empire? Aren’t there some similarities to explore?

@mountainman - probably. Just not the more extreme things like making neighbours hating each other.

Do think there is one big similarity though: the Empire and the New Republic underestimated rogue militarized factions (the Rebellion and the First Order).

Just makes no sense for the New Republic went full demilitarization. They should know like no other that the smallest insurrection could topple a galaxy-wide government.

How many Republicans were loaded on trains and marched into the gas chambers?

A mention where she's off to is enough. Can just say ''oh she saw Din and Grogu find family, so she went looking for her own'' or something like that.

@bkmeijer1 - I can see it already. She fell in a volcano offscreen on some random planet.

@TheLobster - She said nothing that was incorrect, but you are right that in Hollywood you aren’t allowed to go against the approved narrative.
