The Mandalorian season 3 premieres on Disney+ next Wednesday, but we have some disappointing news to share with those of you hoping for a lengthy reunion with Din Djarin and Grogu!
According to a reliable insider (via SFFGazette.com), we can expect the first episode to clock in at a mere 35 minutes and 16 seconds with credits.
That's the shortest premiere of any Star Wars TV show, though it's not as if this is a major departure for the series. While the season 2 premiere was a whopping 51 minutes and 47 seconds, the first-ever episode of The Mandalorian was only 38 minutes and 46 seconds.
As far as we're aware, screeners have not been sent out to critics in advance so details on what to expect from the premiere, and season 3 in general, are few and far between. That's no bad thing, of course, and means we can all experience the opener together next week.
The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars Galaxy continue in season 3. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the Galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.
The series stars Pedro Pascal, Katee Sackhoff, Carl Weathers, Amy Sedaris, Emily Swallow and Giancarlo Esposito. The directors of the eight-episode season 3 include Rick Famuyiwa, Rachel Morrison, Lee Isaac Chung, Carl Weathers, Peter Ramsey, and Bryce Dallas Howard.
Favreau is the showrunner/head writer and serves as an executive producer along with Dave Filoni, Rick Famuyiwa, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist and Carrie Beck are co-executive producers.
The Mandalorian season 3 premieres on March 1.
