STAR WARS: THE ACOLYTE Casting Two More Leads; Shooting Now Expected To Begin Late 2022

We have a significant update to share about Lucasfilm's plans for The Acolyte as Lucasfilm is looking to cast two lead roles, while shooting has now been pushed from the Spring to the Fall. Check it out...

It's been quite some time since Lucasfilm announced The Acolyte, and it remains the most mysterious upcoming Star Wars TV series. While Leslye Headland will serve as showrunner, very little has been revealed beyond the fact this story taks place during the final days of the High Republic era.

That's a period of time (hundreds of years before the events of The Phantom Menace) that's been explored by a number of recent novels and comic books. The prevailing theory is that "The Acolyte" refers to a Dark Side apprentice, with this story detailing the emergence of the Dark Side and potentially even the era of the Sith that would eventually lead to the rise of Emperor Palpatine.

The Illuminerdi (via SFFGazette.com) previously reported that Amanda Stenberg is going to play The Acolyte's lead, Arua, but they've now shared details on two new supporting characters, Paul and Miri.

Lucasfilm is said to be looking for a Caucasian actor in his 50s to play Paul, a series regular for just one season (suggesting this won't be just a limited series). A young Black Girl is wanted for Miri, though she'll be between 8 - 10 years old and is actually described as a "Lead Guest Star."

The site notes that the latest information they've learned about The Acolyte is that production is now set to begin this October, with shooting expected to wrap by next May. With that in mind, we probably won't be watching this one until late next year, but here's hoping new details are shared at Star Wars Celebration. There is going to be a TV panel at the event, so it's certainly plausible!

Keep checking back here for updates on The Acolyte!
