It was reported a while back that a live-action Archie drama was in the works at the CW. Now, TVLine.com are reporting that late Friday, they ordered it to pilot.

The series, title Riverdale, will be a present day take on the famous Archie Comics characters and is said to be a new and subversive take. It will explore the strange happens underneath the small town's wholesome facade.

Aside from being produced by Arrow/Flash's Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter, and penned by Supergirl's Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, there was no other news pretaining to Riverdale. However, along with it, the CW also ordered pilots for Transylvania, No Tomorrow, and a yet to be named Mars show.
