The First Promo For The CW's RIVERDALE Probably Won't Go Down Too Well With ARCHIE Comics Fans

By all accounts the Riverdale pilot is actually quite good, but based on this first teaser for The CW's live-action take on the material, fans of the comics won't be best pleased. See what you think

The first promo for The CW's Riverdale is here, giving us a pretty good idea of what to expect from this "subversive" take on the classic Archie Comics.

Early reactions to the pilot screening at SDCC were mostly positive, but it's difficult to imagine any purist getting on board with this. Then again, maybe you feel the material could have used a bit of an update?

Check out the teaser below and let us know what you make of it.

Riverdale is set to premiere on January 26, and stars KJ Apa as Archie, Andrews, Camilia Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Cole Sprouse as Jughead, Ross Butler as Reggie Mantle, Casey Cott as Kevin Keller, Daniel Yang as Dilton Doiley, Cody Kearsley as Moose Mason, Ashleigh Murray as Josie, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Marisol Nichols as Mrs. Lodge, Mädchen Amick as Alice Cooper, and Luke Perry as Fred Andrews.

Isn't the whole point of Archie comics to be as weird as possible now? Hell, Punisher was in the Archie comics. So I don't think people will care much about them sexualizing Archie.

Not that Archie is all that great anyway, but this seems way off tone. CW going back to what they know best. Teen angst.

This has so many CW cliches that it almost looks like a parody.

@Valdez - maybe it is a parody. And it's marketed seriously like Angie Tribecca.

This is how Archie looks in the recent comics. I'm pretty sure this isn't as far off from the source material people think it is.

Well I'm guessing Arrow fans are looking forward to this show.
