Sony Pictures (via IGN) has released the first clip from Venom, and while it's a bit on the short side, we do get to see more of Eddie Brock's friendly little chat with Carlton Drake.

At first, Drake (Riz Ahmed) is happy to discuss the advancements his Life Foundation has made in space exploration, but when Brock (Tom Hardy) asks him about illegal pharmaceutical testing, the interview is quickly terminated with a veiled threat from the sinister suit.

It's a shame we didn't get to see the Venom himself in action here, but now that the first clip is out of the way it should only be a matter of time before the Symbiote is showcased.

What did you guys think of this first extended look at the movie? Drop us a comment down below.

Venom is set to hit theaters on October 5.

Clip was fine, but the flip flop from being an R-rated movie to a pg-13 movie will have a big benefactor on this film.
Lostcause - 9/21/2018, 8:10 AM
@Batmanfailedme - Word is...they will be doing Maximum Carnage with Spidey included. That is why they kept it PG-13
Ronan3Accuser - 9/21/2018, 8:12 AM
@Batmanfailedme - Who knows if it’s even going to matter. I agree that they should have stuck with the R rating, but they have to get as many butts in the seats as they can. And with them neither confirming or denying Spider-Mans envolvment they’re going to need every age they can get to watch it.
ComicDriver - 9/21/2018, 8:16 AM
@Ronan3Accuser - Yeah, it makes sense from that standpoint to get more money, but if they wanted to do that, they should have just kept it pg-13 from the start. cutting a R-rated film into a pg-13 film is a difficult task, and I am not saying it can not be done. It is rarely pulled off by any movie that tries to change their rating from R to pg-13 so suddenly.
ComicDriver - 9/21/2018, 8:18 AM
@Lostcause - I heard about that, but I believe that is a lost cause because of the MCU's terms. they should've just went all out with their R-rated movie and at least try being unique.

Here we go. And...

B GRADE

Costumes and Color Scheme fit this world perfectly. The charisma and screen presence of Hardy is carrying this scene as it will the film. Which is good that the driving force is the human not the cgi symbiote.

Not a fan of the editing. Obviously the scene is longer. Not sure why you just don’t release the whole.

“Have a nice life.” Ugh.

When there are shots in your movie that last only around 1 second then you [frick]ed up in the editing room. This really seems like it’s going to be absolute trash.

Every year we always get one cbm that is bottom of the barrel shit. This year it could either be this or aquaman. I’m putting my money here, but god I hope I’m proven wrong.

Uhhhhhh - 9/21/2018, 10:18 AM
@Mrcool210 - This clip was obviously trimmed down for promotional release. I guarantee there will be more to this scene in the actual theatrical cut. Movies do this all the time with the clips they release before the movie hits theaters, as they don't want to show entire 2-3 minute long scenes.

Eddie channeling there the power of the 4th state.

I wonder if later as Venom he will deliver back the same line to Drake as Riot.

BTS of the editing bay....

Nebula - 9/21/2018, 8:14 AM

Yeah, I ain't gonna be able to sit through a whole film of that voice.
Kumkani - 9/21/2018, 8:19 AM
Released promo clips are usually edited. I'm not worried about that. Riz Ahmed's acting looks so unconvincing from that though. At least maybe Tom Hardy will be audible in this.
Doomsday8888 - 9/21/2018, 8:20 AM
I've finally figure out why Hardy's voice/accent always seemed so familiar and dumb af to me...
@Rormachine
Mark, tell me i'm not crazy, but doesn't he sound like TC from The Preacher? O.O
Maybe not in this clip per se, but like in the first full trailer, holy shit.
MarkCassidy - 9/21/2018, 8:43 AM
@Doomsday8888 - I dunno about that but it's certainly a bad accent. He actually used a similar one for The Drop but it came off much better in that.
Atomicockroach - 9/22/2018, 10:47 PM
@Doomsday8888 - I wonder... if, as a British dude, Hardy actually thinks that's what Americans sound like? I wonder if he thinks ANYONE actually sounds like that. Lol, what a doofus.

Not bothered by Tom Hardy's voice or the dialogue considering his questions are cut short as part of the plot.
Menks123 - 9/21/2018, 8:24 AM
Movie doesn't look awful, just very generic with meh dialogue.
