Cabin Fever director Eli Roth's adaptation of Gearbox Software and 2K's Borderlands video game continues to assemble a heck of a cast, and the latest additions are Hayley Bennett and Florian Munteanu.
The Creed II powerhouse is set to play Tina Tina's massive protector, "Psycho" Krieg, while Bennett (Swallow, The Girl on the Train) has been cast as a brand new character. We don't have a name, but she's said to be "key to the past of Cate Blanchett’s character, Lilith."
Bennett and Munteanu will join Jack Black (School of Rock, King Kong) as the voice for Claptrap (or, CL4P-TP) the robot, Cate Blanchett (Thor: Ragnarok, The Lord of the Rings) as Lilith, Kevin Hart (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) as Roland, Ariana Greenblatt (Avengers: Infinity War) as Tiny Tina, and Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr. Tannis.
Borderlands is a somewhat bizarre and very violent first-person, loot-based shooter which focuses on four “Vault Hunters” fending off local marauders while searching for advanced alien tech on a planet called Pandora. There have been three games released so far, and all have done very well. Borderlands 3 hit shelves in 2019 went on to sell over 8 million copies.
This big-screen take is being developed at Lionsgate and will work off a script from Chernobyl screenwriter Craig Mazin. Roth will also produce along with Avi and Ari Arad through their Arad Productions banner.
What do you guys make of this news? Do you think Greenblatt is the right choice to bring Tiny Tina to life? Let us know in the usual place.
