2018 is quite a year for Spider-Man, if we don't just include his appearance in Avengers Infinity War, we also have his main comic line coming to issue 800, A new animated film coming out, and finally a new video game due for release on September 7th.
Fans who are in anticipation for this new game are no doubt excited to find out that that this previously thought non-canon interpretation of the character will be appearing in the new event: SPIDERGEDDON. Written by Christos Gage who is one of the many writers involved in the story for Marvel's Spider-Man. This was announced with the release of the cover of Spidergeddon #0
While this version of Peter Parker will be added into the story, giving you more of this version once this comic is released on September 27th, it seems that there is a good story reason for his inclusion,as stated by Gage in an interview with Polygon.
“Since I have been writing for the video game for the past three years (along with the ever-amazing Dan Slott, Jon Paquette, and Ben Arfmann), it seemed like a perfect time to bring that Pete into the mix,”
”There are other reasons based in character that make some of the interactions between him and other Spider-folks really juicy and interesting, but I can’t say too much without spoiling the game. It’s great story fodder though — this is definitely not shoehorning a character in where he doesn’t belong. In fact, it seems like an important next step for him.”
In more good news with this announcement it seems that in an cool bit of info that has been relvealed is that this event will take place after the events of the game and shall serve as an epilogue of sorts.
"that will inform where Pete’s head is during the event.”
But don't worry, if you haven't played the game or finished the story, Marvel's got ya covered.
“We’ll try to avoid huge spoilers for anyone who may read the comic before finishing the game,”
This shall not be Insomniacs Spider-Man's only comic appearance as a prequel comic to the game known as Spider-Man: Hostile Takeover shall be due for release on August 21st. So we got plenty of Spider-Man in the months to come. We got a prequel, our main story, and our epilogue. Plenty of material for fans of this version of the character.
So what do you guys think of this news? Are you excited? Are you disappointed he's being brought into the main comic line so soon? Are you excited for Marvel's Spider-Man? Let us know down in the comments. Thank you for reading and have a lovely day.
