DC Universe Online brings high-energy action to the forefront with a combat system designed to deliver a fast-paced action experience with the extraordinary powers of DC Super Heroes and Villains at your disposal. DCUO offers a dramatic online setting where players battle with or against their favorite DC Super Heroes and Villains including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and The Joker. For the very first time, players and fans will be able to enter this fabled world as an active force for good or evil. The action and drama will play out in such well-known locations such as Gotham City and Metropolis.

DC Universe Online is set to hit retailers sometime next year (2011) for the PC and Playstation 3.

I love the Batman and Superman characters that they show... The fact that you can team up with them is pretty cool (even if you can't BE them).

I was thinking of getting this but I don't care for the high monthly cost. If it were $60/year, then I might start thinking about it. But at nearly $200/year, forget about it.

@Jaxim Where did you get the pricing figures from? Assuming that it's $15/month, which is typical for MMOs anymore, that would be about right ($180/year), but I haven't seen any official word on the monthly fees...

I've always preferred Marvel over DC but this game is really making me like and appreciate the DC universe. It's too bad that it doesn't come out next month. I was really looking forward to it. Having been a WoW player for the last 5 years I was looking forward to something different. This is the first game I've ever seen that looked like it could replace WoW for me. For those that haven't played MMOs, $15-20 a month is not bad at all if the game is deep and has enough content. Some of my friends, who have been playing MMOs for years, have some some reservations about DCUO because of Sony and its failure with Everquest II. I feel they've got to take a back seat and watch Blizzard for the last 6 years and maybe they might do things right and even better. They sure have seen and perfect model of how to run an MMO.

I was sold from the first trailers. And like I said, I was never into DC as much as Marvel. The story line is great and the customization of the characters is something that I think will give it a leg up on WoW. Let's hope that it is out very, very early in 2011.

I wish people would stfu about the price. All MMOs that are worth a damn are $15 a month, WOW is $15 a month too. You are paying for a game the never ends and keeps getting more interesting as you go along how many people have spent $60 on a game only to beat it in one day. People spend $15 to see a movie for 2hrs sometimes less worth of entertainment. This $15 of entertainment lasts all month.
