DEADPOOL 2 Director David Leitch To Helm THE DIVISION Movie With Jessica Chastain And Jake Gyllenhaal
Deadpool 2 and John Wick director David Leitch has lined up his next project. The highly in-demand filmmaker will helm the upcoming big-screen adaptation of Ubisoft's futuristic video game, The Division.
Ubisoft's upcoming adaptation of post-apocalyptic video game The Division has found a director. According to THR, none other than David Leitch (John Wick, Deadpool 2) has landed the gig, and will also produce along with stars Jessica Chastain And Jake Gyllenhaal.
Stephen Gaghan was previously attached to direct, but has since left the project.
Leitch was also recently tapped to helm Universal's Fast and Furious spinoff starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, and that will almost certainly shoot first as it's set to go into production this fall.
Just in case you're not familiar with the premise of the game, here's a synopsis:
"The Division is set in a near future where a pandemic virus is spread via paper money on Black Friday, decimating New York City and killing millions. By Christmas, what’s left of society has descended into chaos. A group of civilians, trained to operate in catastrophic times, is activated in an attempt to save who and what remains."
