According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Doug Liman is in final negotiations to direct Splinter Cell." The film will be based on the Ubisoft video games and star The Dark Knight Rises' Tom Hardy.
Looks like Paramount has found the director for their next film adaptation of a video game. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Doug Liman, who previously directed Mr. and Mrs. Smith, The Bourne Identity and the upcoming Edge of Tomorrow, is closing in on Splinter Cell. Negotiations are said to be in the "final" stages.
Splinter Cell, is based on the popular video game series of the same name, that is produced by Ubisoft. Paramount is producing the film, and it will star Tom Hardy as Sam Fisher. They're hoping to release the film sometime in 2015 and filming should commence in August. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell is a media franchise created by Ubisoft and endorsed by American author Tom Clancy. The protagonist, Sam Fisher, was a highly-trained field operative of Third Echelon, a top-secret NSA initiative.
