I have my reservations about this "reimagining" of the classic video game series but there is no doubt that Jai White as Jax is great casting. He is joined by Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade and Darren Shahlavi Kano among others.

the MK webseries wont be like MK Rebirth fan film. this will be closer link to the video game universe. it will have realistic and fantasy also. so in Jax, Sonya, Kano storyline it will be more reality based. when it comes to Raiden and any magicial character it be fantasy based. Michael Jai White confirmed this in a IGN interview

I loved the first short vid they did, can't wait to see what else is coming. The gritty, real world-ish takes on the characters are great.

MJW! One of the baddest men on the planet, and I don't mean just movie macho, either, legit. This guy is a serious and multidimensional martial-artist and inspired actor/writer. His Blood and Bone and Black Dynamite films are must see for anyone who considers themselves a true fan of the martial-arts film genre. Not to mention he's one of the few tough guys of color in and or around Hollywood, just sayin'.

I haven't watched Spawn in a very, very long time, so I can't really comment on that, but Michael Jai White really is great at action scenes. I'm not sure anyone would dispute this -- and we're talking Mortal Kombat here guys, not high brow stuff. I'm hoping he'll kick ass at this role, but I'll concede his acting chops are really not the greatest.

there's gonna be magic and stuff like that too?? oh man, i really loved the Rebirth thingy.... would have loved to see a more realistic spin on Raiden and the gods without the magic and the lightning shooting out from hands stuff. i know the situation with surgically attached blades to hands was totally laughable, but it was something we could imagine happening more easily than huge yellow people with four hands. it was more closer to real life. but now it's just gonna be just another "reboot" like everything else these days with different actors playing the same old characters set in slightly different scenarios. bit of a buzzkill for me.

@jazzman: Thanks for the great post of that video. Ah, the misfits who made RE are going to adapt Dante, eh? In other words, we'll get a white-haired(maybe) devil hunter with a coat, slaying demons, but he won't be linked to the real Dante or hardly any likeness to the game. Yawn, that video should have been made into a thread on the main, by the way.

@Reynman: Any reboot should still fit in the context of the source they are adapting........Once you take the mysticism out of MK it is no longer MK because fantasy is it's ENTIRE genetic makeup. That's like saying a Superman reboot should be about superman being a ex-convict from a gang called Krypton that wears S's on their shirts just because it's "something new".
