Tom Hardy Talks SPLINTER CELL And Whether He's Been Offered Another Comic Book Movie

The Dark Knight Rises star Tom Hardy offers a very brief update on Ubisoft and Doug Liman's upcoming big screen adaptation of the Splinter Cell video game series, while also revealing whether or not he would be interested in another comic book movie role and if he's actually been offered one.

It was recently revealed that the Splinter Cell screenplay is undergoing another draft with Sheldon Turner (The Longest Yard) working on the latest version of the Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) helmed big screen adaptation of the popular Tom Clancy video game series. When Collider caught up with star Tom Hardy during his promotional tour for Locke, he had this to say about whether or not it will be ready for an August shoot. "Can't say. You never know with these things. I'd like to be able to say, but shift in geography finances and those things..." As for this current take, all Hardy could say was: "Every draft has been different and grown and changed and whatnot. It's going to be cool!" When talk turned to if he would be interested in starring in another comic book movie role after playing Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, Hardy told Variety: ""Yeah, of course." He was then asked if any other offers have been made since, simply replying with "No," but we all know that actors know better than to reveal this type of thing. Personally, I would love to see him play Thanos! What do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below!

Tom Hardy for Wolverine?? I don't see it at all. Isn't everyone all Wolverined out anyways? If we didn't see Wolverine for 10yrs on big screen, it'd be ok with me. I'd love to see a Xmen movie without Wolverine, to be honest. I'm bored to death with Wolverine..

And Clive Owen for Dr.Strange by the way.

Agreed. Too much wolverine. Need a break from him.

Hardy will be the only reason I watch this, the whole "team" behind this is kind of disappointing, especially considering it's a Splinter-Cell based movie.

@kevberg

He was excellent as Nolan's interpretation of Bane.

Thanos is an awesome idea, Josh.
A cameo in BvS could be good, too. Not as Bane, obviously, but maybe the Mutant Leader?

@Kevberg

I don't think that he was bad as Bane. The movie was a piece of shit so his performance gets caught up in that. Aside from the occasional not understanding what he was saying he was one of the only good parts of that movie.

Thought he was great as Bane

He would be a boss Thanos!!!!! And a great Punisher too!
@kevberg are you sane??? Did you notice TDKR mostly positive reviews and billion dollar box office??? Yea..learn that shit

Name was one of the best part of TDKR. Never noticed how Hardy could be a great Thanos. Thanks to whomever thought that up.
Tom Hardy- "I was born in swag. Molded by it"

Another idea for a character he could play. The Phantom. Kind of a mediocre character but if done right could be a really fun movie.

Cable should be play by someone with the skills and badass attitude of Liam Nesson or Gerard Butler, if they want someone a bit younger

TDKR was a great movie. Hardy was menacing in it even though his voice sounded daft. I couldn't see him playing another comic character though.

@kevberg

TDKR was pure dogsh*t.

But, that has nothing to do with Tom Hardy, he's just an actor, a very brilliant actor I must say.

Watch Warrior. There's Tom Hardy as Wolverine.

@ComicsBornandBred

Dude, box office has nothing to do with movie quality. TDKR was a pile of shit. Iron Man 3 is the worst of the Iron Man trilogy but made a billion. Michael Bay movies generally suck but rake in cash. Avatar is one of the shittiest most overrated movies ever but it is one of the highest grossing movies ever.

Watch Bronson. Hardy is a god. He needs to be wolverine after Jackman. Or Thanos

I thought he did good as Bane. If that wasn't a mexican accent, then what is?
GhostDog
GhostDog - 4/26/2014, 7:46 AM
@l0rdlegal0s yea but it means the public loves that film. Studios can sometimes give two shits about reviews and quality as long as the film makes money. TDKR was still epic in scope and scale and Hardy did his job. It was te worst of the aries but it was waaay better than IM3 an most final films on a trilogy

thanos will be motion capture & i definitely don't want hardy providing the voice,remember how crap bane's voice was it was a complete joke.it was like he was trying to compete with bale for who had the most ridiculous voice in a batman movie.
