UNCHARTED: New Stills Feature Tom Holland's Nathan Drake, Antonio Banderas' Villain, And More

Sony Pictures released the first trailer for Uncharted earlier today, and three new stills have now found their way online that put the spotlight on the movie's leads (including Mark Wahlberg's Sully).

The first Uncharted trailer seems to have left fans with mixed feelings, though it appears Sony Pictures has attempted to recapture the magic of Naughty Dog's beloved video game franchise.

You can watch that sneak peek here, and we also have a few new stills for you to take a look at. The first shows Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) and Sully (Mark Wahlberg) teaming up - we're not sure how to feel about that missing 'tache - and the former undeniably looks like he's stepped straight out of the games.

The second image shows Nate alongside Sophia Ali's mysterious female lead; after that trailer, we do wonder if she's supposed to be a reinvented version of Chloe Frazer.

Finally, the spotlight is moved to Antonio Banderas' villain. We don't know much about him other than the fact that he's also pursuing "the greatest treasure never found." It definitely feels like Uncharted has borrowed a lot from the games (reinventing it along the way), so we're intrigued to see the end result.

Take a look at those new stills (and a featurette) below:

Based on one of the best-selling, most critically acclaimed video game series of all time, Uncharted introduces audiences to the young street-smart Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) and showcases his first treasure hunting adventure with wisecracking partner Victor "Sully" Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg). In an action-adventure epic that spans the globe, the two go in dangerous pursuit of "the greatest treasure never found" while also tracking clues that may lead to Nathan’s long-lost brother.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer from a screenplay by Rafe Judkins and Art Marcum & Matt Holloway, the movie stars Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle, and Antonio Banderas.

Uncharted is set to arrive in theaters on February 18. In the UK, it arrives a little sooner on February 11.

Wait…isn’t Bandaras also the villain in the next Indiana Jones movie?? He can’t be the villain in the original and the rip off! It’s not fair!

Copy and paste from the last article since I was late to that one.

As someone who has platinumed every console Uncharted (sadly didn’t have a Vita so I’m missing that one) this is exactly what I feared.

This is made by people who probably haven’t played the games or get why they work and are just filling out a checklist in a board room. They change a bunch of things that don’t need to be changed and aren’t improvements and then take a random set piece like the plane from Uncharted 3 to say “Here you go nerds here’s the thing you like right? Give us money please.” while seemingly missing the entire point.

Does it look awful? No. Does it look like Uncharted? Also no, other than the plane stuff. This looks exactly like every other videogame movie we’ve ever gotten where it’s just a recognizable label wrapping a movie made by committee with bullet points they think will equate to ticket sales

-Uncharted name
-2 costars of action franchises that make money with Spiderman and the guy from Transformers
-One scene from the games so it seems remotely connected
-A villain who’s a former action star playing against type

This movie is an executive math equation made for investors and nothing more. Maybe I’ll give it a chance if it’s on a streaming platform but I’ll be damned if I give Sony money in theaters.

Looks very generic action adventure.

It looks okay. Well, aside from the fact that both leads are miscast, and parts of the movie look more video game-y than the literal video game it's based on. Pass.

I'm still not convinced of Tom and Mark as Nate and Sully, but I am a little more convinced of their chemistry (even though the BTS clip is a little awkward).

What I'm still worried about is Nate's portrayal, especially at a young age. In the game he always seems kinda out of his depth, but here he's just straight-up Spider-Man.

I thought this movie was supposed to be a prequel to the game series? It looks like they're mashing up parts from the games into one story. I could make out sequences from the third and fourth games (the plane sequences and the pirate ship).
