Tickets for Sony Pictures' Uncharted movie go on sale this Sunday, and Fandango has now debuted a final trailer for the video game adaptation featuring quite a bit of action-packed new footage.

This latest teaser spotlights some of the exciting/preposterous set pieces fans can look forward to, along with plenty of bickering banter between Tom Holland's younger take on Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg's version (maybe Variant would be more accurate!) of Victor "Sully" Sullivan.

Uncharted does seem to have captured at least some of the spirit of the games, but fans have been somewhat mixed on everything we've seen so far. Check out this new trailer below and see if it inspires any more confidence.

"Street-smart thief Nathan Drake is recruited by seasoned treasure hunter Victor "Sully" Sullivan to recover a fortune lost by Ferdinand Magellan 500 years ago," reads the latest synopsis. "What starts as a heist job for the duo becomes a globe-trotting, white-knuckle race to reach the prize before the ruthless Moncada, who believes he and his family are the rightful heirs. If Nate and Sully can decipher the clues and solve one of the world’s oldest mysteries, they stand to find $5 billion in treasure and perhaps even Nate’s long-lost brother...but only if they can learn to work together."

Sony's adaptation will be set before the events of the first game and serve as an origin story for the beloved character, as Drake embarks on his first globe-trotting adventure alongside his treasure-hunting partner (and soon-to-be mentor) Sully.

Travis Knight, Dan Trachtenberg, Shawn Levy, Seth Gordon, Neil Burger and David O. Russell were all attached to helm Uncharted at one time or another, before Venom's Ruben Fleischer was finally confirmed as director back in 2020.

Uncharted will also star Antonio Banderas, Sophia Ali and Tati Gabrielle. The movie is (currently) set to hit theaters on February 18, 2022.

Okay okay… I actually quite liked this trailer 🤷🏻‍♂️
Sure the casting choices are debatable… I don’t actually mind Tom Holland that much tbh…BUT Mark Whalberg is and always will be a horrible “actor”!
That being said, it would have helped ALOT if they just gave him a moustache through the entire film and not just (what I presume) at the end… sure would have upped the uncharted vibes..
As a huge fan of the games and the adventure genre in general, I’ll definitely watch this at the cinema

@Spidernoir - also I’m cautiously optimistic about the film being a good time at the cinema..but I really hope that whole “flying” ships scene isn’t too cringey 😅

@Spidernoir - Can't help but disagree a little on Wahlberg. Boogie Nights, The Fighter, The Other Guys, Lone Survivor, Pain and Gain. He can act, but he's often the same.

@Spidernoir - the flying ships is a bit much, but it does look like a fun adventure movie. Even if it's just Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg as themselves.

@MosquitoFarmer - there’s no a little there’s a lot, his line delivery and cop car hood slide flip maneuver were somethin serious on P&G, and frikkin The Departed? Man, if he’s always just playing Mark Wahlberg then Mark Wahlberg is one fast talking entertaining guy. Phones it in sometimes I’ll grant you, but when he’s peak Wahlberg, that stuff’s mad entertaining

I'm guessing what they're going for is that sully is Nathan drake but before the actual Nathan drake grows up, and he picks up much of that from sully.

Not saying it's a good idea, just that I get it.

@Origame - that’s a good point.. I can definitely see them doing that
And I suppose that all right 🤷🏻‍♂️
Really just makes me want to see a sequel though (IF they make one) and hopefully Sully will have a moustache and Nate will be closer to the game version 🤘🏼😎

@Origame - my guess is Sully and Sam partnered up before, but Sam got lost (which Gabrielle's character blames Sully for) and now Sully is trying to make up for it by doing it with Sam's younger brother. Albeit with a lot of reluctance because he promised Sam before dissappering

I think this looks decent. I love the games but I like the prequel feel of this. Not expecting much more than a fun ride.

The pirate ship battle does look like a fun set piece. The plane sequence still seems a too ridiculous though on film, even if it worked awesomely in the game.

There are times where I love Mark Wahlberg (and he would've been a pretty good Nathan Drake back when the film was originally in development and now).

But as Sully...yeah no.

Not just because he doesn't look or sound like how he's supposed to be, but because every scene we've seen him in thus far with Tom Holland has made him look like the biggest asshole ever without any charm and charisma.

I still wish Josh Brolin was cast as Sully opposite Holland's Nathan Drake instead.

This looks like a fun time. Hope it's good❤️

Aside from the ships being hung from helicopters, I do think this could be fun. Not really Uncharted, since it's just Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, but it does look fun.

Also, having Sully and Sam partnered up before Nate/Sully could lead to some interesting dynamics. Atleast, if that's what they're going for.

As someone who isn't a gamer and therefore has no connection to this property outside of this one movie, I gotta say it looks good! In a "popcorn movie" kind of a way, of course. Turn your mind off for two hours and enjoy the ride! That flying pirate ships set piece looks crazy fun!

Again, I have no connection to the game at all. So I'm as GA as it gets when it comes to this movie. And to me it looks fun. Fun enough to go see it in theaters? Of course not. I'll watch it at home eventually. But fun nonetheless.

This movie had so much potential and the games had the blueprint to make a movie but noooo Hollywood botch it as always 🥺🙄

Holland was miscast here I would’ve preferred Nathan Fillion as Drake but at least we got the fan film that actually worked.

@theFUZZ008 - could see this ride the Tom Holland wave. The guy is really popular now.

Now that I think about, wouldn't be surprised if we get an announced soon from The Rock he's gonna make a movie with Holland.

Tom Holland playing Tom Holland...again.
The idea of him playing Drake just dosent work for me. I'll watch the movie, I'll just ignore the fact that it's meant to be Uncharted.

Sadly this looks really subpar.

It’ll be fall in the ever growing bad video game pile

Decent recreation of the scene from the game. With that being said, Holland just seems out of place as Drake.

You'd think Sony would be more protective and ambitious with their IP. They failed the moment they casted Drake and Sully. I love Tom, great actor but he is clearly miscast.

Sony gonna Sony I guess. This looks generic as [frick].

bkmeijer2 - 1/27/2022, 6:14 PM
@EgoEgor - with Sony wanting to rework their PS subscriptions, not having a proper streaming service yet, and having a massive library of games, movies/tv and music, I'm still surprised they haven't announced one streaming service for all media they own yet.

Somy's gonna Sony, but they better Sony the [frick] up

woah woah woah Mangellin? Is this the same plot as the Nathan Fillion fan film? That is the treasure they were looking for.
