Despite being one of BioWare's most successful franchises, details on a fourth Mass Effect game have been extremely sparse over the last few years, but the wait is finally over: at today's Electronic Arts E3 conference, the company finally unveiled the first trailer for Mass Effect: Andromeda, which heralds a whole new era for the franchise. Having long since left both the timeframe and even the galaxy of Commander Shepard's journey, the game is set in the eponymous Andromeda galaxy, promising numerous new worlds to explore and alien characters to interact with, all while driving an upgraded version of the Mako vehicle from previous installments. Representatives from BioWare have confirmed that players will step into the boots of a new human protagonist, who, just like Commander Shepard, can be a male or a female. Check out the reveal trailer below!

Mass Effect: Andromeda has an official release window of Holiday 2016.
