Scream made a decent impact at the box office when it opened earlier this month, but Uncharted will be 2022's first major blockbuster. While it's based on a famous video game IP with two big name leads (Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg), it's hard to say exactly how big of an impact it will make at the box office.

There's certainly a fair bit of excitement surrounding the movie after some impressive trailers, but with so much focus still on Spider-Man: No Way Home, it feels like Sony has been dragging its feet in terms of building hype. That's slowly starting to change, though, and a new IMAX poster promises a globe-trotting affair with plenty of amazing action set-pieces fans of the games will be all too familiar with.

It's a fun piece of imagery, and we can't help but feel that Uncharted could prove to be one of just a small handful of good video game movies. Hopefully, we'll have more to share on this one very soon.

"Street-smart thief Nathan Drake is recruited by seasoned treasure hunter Victor "Sully" Sullivan to recover a fortune lost by Ferdinand Magellan 500 years ago," reveals the new synopsis. "What starts as a heist job for the duo becomes a globe-trotting, white-knuckle race to reach the prize before the ruthless Moncada, who believes he and his family are the rightful heirs. If Nate and Sully can decipher the clues and solve one of the world’s oldest mysteries, they stand to find $5 billion in treasure and perhaps even Nate’s long-lost brother...but only if they can learn to work together."

Directed by Ruben Fleischer from a screenplay by Rafe Judkins and Art Marcum & Matt Holloway, the movie stars Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle, and Antonio Banderas.

Uncharted is set to arrive in theaters on February 18. In the UK, it arrives a little sooner on February 11.

@AmazingFILMporg - same here mayt, Oi aym to bring moi kids, I don’t think it’s going to smash records or anything but I do think it will benefit from tom Holland since everybody just watched Spiderman. If this movie flops it truly will be prove that superhero movies or superhero movies and video game movies will never, or at most rarely ever, be superhero movies.

Seven locations and maybe even the pirate cove (which assume is in the Philippines given thats where Magellan died I think)? That really is pushing the globetrotting aspect to the limit

Speaking as someone wholly unfamiliar with the game, from everything I've seen so far, I don't see this movie being successful.

I like Tom Holland so I hope I'm dead wrong.
