D23 Poster Features X-Men's Storm - Will The Reboot's Cast Be Announced On Friday?

A new poster for next weekend's D23 event in Anaheim spotlights several iconic characters and franchises, but it's the presence of Storm that's led to speculation about an X-Men cast announcement.

D23 takes place next week, with the "Disney Entertainment Showcase" scheduled for 7 pm on Friday, August 14. Marvel Studios will be part of the two-hour presentation, and the hope is that the main cast of Jake Schreier's X-Men reboot is set to be officially unveiled.

Speculation that the mutant team will have a notable presence in Anaheim has increased today with the reveal of a new poster for the event.

As you can see below, many iconic Disney franchises and characters are spotlighted, including Avatar, Frozen, Moana, Star Wars, The Simpsons, and Toy Story. On the Marvel side, we have Spider-Man, Invisible Woman, and Storm.

Spider-Man remains one of Disney's biggest merchandise sellers and has a significant presence at its theme parks in California and Paris. Sue Storm's inclusion is certainly interesting, but the presence of an iconic X-Man has everyone talking.

Storm's being here could be a nod to X-Men '97 or an acknowledgement that mutants are about to become a huge part of the MCU. However, as rumours swirl that the X-Men reboot's cast is being announced at D23—The Hollywood Reporter has said fans should expect "a banger of a reveal at next week’s D23"—Ororo Munroe's appearance on this poster may be telling.

Here's the official description for the Disney Entertainment Showcase panel:

Friday night, the world-class storytellers of The Walt Disney Company will take center stage at the Honda Center for the Disney Entertainment Showcase. Guests can expect surprise celebrity appearances, exclusive first looks at upcoming films and series, exciting new announcements, and unforgettable musical performances. The star-studded presentation will celebrate the stories audiences love while offering an exclusive preview of what's coming next across Disney's movies, television, games, and live stage productions.

Interestingly, a popular theory among fans right now is that Storm won't be in X-Men. Instead, she'll be introduced in Black Panther 3, later joining the team in a sequel. That would be an effective reintroduction for the hero on a grand stage, and it makes sense if Marvel Studios has a multi-year plan for mutants and is in no rush to assemble them.

"I’d say there were actually more parameters on Thunderbolts* because it was plugging into an existing arc and existing characters," X-Men writer Lee Sung Jin previously revealed, "whereas with X-Men, Kevin [Feige] just wants to take a big swing and start anew, not be beholden to any of the movies that have come before."

"And Jake Schreier has such a clear vision in terms of wanting to get back to character first, and to what is exciting about those early [Chris] Claremont-run comics, which was all about team dynamics."

"There were a lot of soapy elements to those comics. We’ve been in the room every day together," the writer added. "Kevin and Louis [D’Esposito] are so dialled in, and they have such incredible instincts that it’s been fun to just blue-sky."

Check out this new D23 poster below and stay tuned for updates from the panel on Friday.

That's a deliberate misrepresentation of the percentage that toxicity holds in each respective fandom.

But you already knew that.

epc1122 - 8/8/2026, 12:17 PM
@TemporarilyHere - you took a poll? It’s not a misrepresentation. All these fandoms have become toxic and disturbing to the point where people have to defend themselves for liking a particular movie or character. But again, it’s more outliers than overall fans. There’s good and bad people everywhere, the original poster is just sick for writing what he did, I don’t think many would argue that.

@epc1122 -

If you really think that one needs to take a poll in order to recognize the difference between a cinematic franchise that (even today, despite its recent failures) remains the most financially successful of all time, thus appealing to hardcores and casuals a like, and one that is still maligned by its most obnoxiously vocal part that reeks of nothing but self-proclaimed superiority and faux kino elitism, then you're only lying to yourself 'cause noone else is buying it.

One has a few bad apples that it ignores. The other hails them as its champions.

But, again, you already knew that.

@epc1122 - How many other fandoms review-bomb every competing release even if it's released by the same studio, skew award-show voting, use bots to appear as if the general audience supports their cause, target executives and critics, send death threats and march to studio headquarters to blackmail an already debt-ridden company into providing a director's cut that will only make them lose money, and when they finally get what they want, they ask for more while boycotting every other iteration of the IP they supposedly love, all while berating every other fan of a different iteration of the same IP so that they can get it rebooted and have another one of their fantasies hopefully fulfilled by some miracle, thinking that they will get their beloved version of the IP restored?

You think all those words in a single question are too much? Try telling a SnyderCultist their actions are too much.

It's no wonder every new owner wants to get rid of WB as soon as they realize the full extent of the SnyderCult's toxicity, carnage, and wrath.

@TemporarilyHere - are you talking about dc specific or the gunnverse? Even with dc there’s a divide. Since endgame there’s been a divide within marvel with people complaining about “woke”. Most of the hate comes from people on here who don’t know how to talk to people. Mostly everyone is expressing their disdain for nolanites comments yet it’s “Gunn” fans who are the problem. The guy is mentally ill to say something like that, doesn’t matter if he’s a Gunn fan. I like gunns work but I don’t condone nastiness from any fandom.

@epc1122 -

As @SpiderParker clarified just above, we're talking about the former DCEU, or as its fanatics like to refer to it the "SnyderVerse". Chronically online lurkers like @Nolanite are only supporters of Gunn so long as his DCU poses any \kind of competition or potential danger to their much abhored eternal enemy that is the MCU.

They're not fans of DC. They're not fans of comics. They're not fans of anything. All they are, all they've always been, and all they'll always be, is contrarian spiteful haters of Marvel's main franchise.

They are the kind that unironically supported the first Venom movie back in 2018, for no other reason than to help Sony keep the rights to Spider-Man and his affiliate characters. They're the kind that unirincally supported ComCast over Disney back during the acquisition of Fox, under the guise of "avoiding monopoly".

They're the easiest kind to read, and I refuse to acknowledge that any of what I just said is news to you either, or that you somehow believe that their toxicity is just as prevalent among fans of the MCU. As such, like I said before, and like I will say again as many times as are needed...

"...you already knew that."

Actually I shall correct you because you got me misunderstood.

I'm not just a follower of Gunn but also of the old DCEU. While not all of those movies were absolutely amazing, because they're not, there were some good hits.

Snyder blessed us with his amazing movies that were made per his vision. I'm an absolute fan of all DC comics mumbo jumbo.

And I am not an asshole I'm really not

You insulted anyone and everyone who's ever been a fan of the MCU. You've been in the trenches since the days of Jollem, and yearn for a return to the time when Snyder made you feel like you're some sort of superior group of enlightened chosen few, while at the same time labeling Marvel fans as children, mindless, sheeple, masses, or God knows what else that helped you see them as unintelligent or uncultured.

You and I both know that Gunn is a compromise to you, while you count the days until Superman and Batman enter the public domain, so that your cult leader that "blessed you" will be finally free to rape their characterization on screen once more.

Either have the balls to own and continue being what we've already established that you are, or, on the off-chance that you really are not an asshole as you claim to not be, at the very f#ckin' least have the God damn decency to acknowledge the error of your f#ckin' ways.

@SpiderParker - the wb is looking to make money. The original post I was referring to was about Gunn, and you’re changing it to the snyderverse which i somewhat agree with you but not to the extent that you’re making it out to be. Some people are pretty sick but at the same time, one can be a fan of Snyder and still be civil. I for one can say that there are aspects to most universes that can be both positive and negative. Again, sure there are some sick people out there, but I’m sure in real life they’re decent people. This is just online and doesn’t really show the true value of someone. For better or worse, some people do take this stuff way too seriously.

That is evident from your toxic nature. Nine out of ten times, any DC fan who is toxic is automatically a SnyderCult member. You only gave up on the DCEU because you know it isn't coming back, but that doesn't revoke your cult membership.

And you are an @$$#01€, you really are. The proof is right there in your initial comment.

Where did you get 9/10 times? Just to try to prove a point with nothing backing it. There’s a disgusting, anti-Semitic poster on here who hated the snyderverse. Someone can be toxic without being a fan of the snyderverse. I enjoyed the Snyderverse and gunnverse but try to be civil. Without naming names, there’s a few people on here, specifically who are narrow minded and nasty and doesn’t really have anything to do with being a fan of the snyderverse. Marvel fans have less to complain about because there franchise has generally been well received and not as divisive.
