Talking to Collider at the Saturn Awards last week, Make-Up Supervisor Dave Elsey has shared his thoughts on the challenges of creating Beast for 2011's X-Men: First Class and his hopes to return to the universe created by Matthew Vaughn for the 2014 sequel (rumoured to be titled X-Men: Days of Future Past). Little is known about the film at this point, and even the rumour mill has been pretty dead. However, with shooting set to begin next January, it shouldn't be too long until we start hearing some casting news and plot details. "The biggest challenge on X-Men [First Class] was that I was actually brought in quite late. In fact, all of the other characters had been designed and signed off long before I was there. They were filming by the time I came on board and all I knew was that we had to do make-up on Nick Hoult. I remembered Nick from About A Boy and thought he was a kid, so I was surprised to find that there was a 6'3 guy that we had to stick the make-up onto. There wasn't much time, and luckily Nick was a great person to work with and we got through a lot of blue hair and a lot of blue paint. At the end of it, we were all firm friends, and I'm hoping that when the new X-Men movie starts in January of next year, that we'll all be reunited again."
"Nick and I have kept in touch actually, and we've heard a few things. We've heard rumours obviously, and we've heard some possible characters that might be coming on board that we're not allowed to tell you about! But it looks like it's going to be an amazing, amazing movie. I actually really liked the first movie - I don't like every movie I work on - but I really did like X-Men: First Class; I thought it was great. It was like a Bond movie and an X-Men movie slammed together. Two movies that I would like to work on in one movie! It was great and I'd love to go back to that world again."
