Talking to Collider at the Saturn Awards last week, Make-Up Supervisor Dave Elsey has shared his thoughts on the challenges of creating Beast for 2011's X-Men: First Class and his hopes to return to the universe created by Matthew Vaughn for the 2014 sequel (rumoured to be titled X-Men: Days of Future Past). Little is known about the film at this point, and even the rumour mill has been pretty dead. However, with shooting set to begin next January, it shouldn't be too long until we start hearing some casting news and plot details. To hear more from Elsey on his other projects (including David Hayter's Wolves), be sure to click on the link at the bottom of the page. Which mutants are you hoping will appear in the sequel? sound off with your thoughts below.

"The biggest challenge on X-Men [First Class] was that I was actually brought in quite late. In fact, all of the other characters had been designed and signed off long before I was there. They were filming by the time I came on board and all I knew was that we had to do make-up on Nick Hoult. I remembered Nick from About A Boy and thought he was a kid, so I was surprised to find that there was a 6'3 guy that we had to stick the make-up onto. There wasn't much time, and luckily Nick was a great person to work with and we got through a lot of blue hair and a lot of blue paint. At the end of it, we were all firm friends, and I'm hoping that when the new X-Men movie starts in January of next year, that we'll all be reunited again."

"Nick and I have kept in touch actually, and we've heard a few things. We've heard rumours obviously, and we've heard some possible characters that might be coming on board that we're not allowed to tell you about! But it looks like it's going to be an amazing, amazing movie. I actually really liked the first movie - I don't like every movie I work on - but I really did like X-Men: First Class; I thought it was great. It was like a Bond movie and an X-Men movie slammed together. Two movies that I would like to work on in one movie! It was great and I'd love to go back to that world again."

thought first class was a little over-rated, have a good feeling bout the sequel. Loved when it went all "sci-fi time travel" in the cartoon back in the 90's , hope they go that route

I thought beast looked great while he was flying the jet but moments when he was walking around with everyone looked really wield like you knew it was just a man in a furry suit

I dont mind beast, but I would prefer if he was more ape like, like with an arched back, short legs and big beasty arms and abit more of a snout,he only really looks good on this film where he roared on the jet,he looked like shit when first seeing him

@Ghostt The only thing I can remember is that he used the phrase "it behooves me..." when he was talking to Mystique about his cure.

@Ghostt- The way I see it, it'd be a little weird to see a teenager using Beast's quips. Maybe when he becomes older and wiser. So basically maybe as the movies progress he'll start using them. I hope he does at least.

I seem to be in the minority that really dug Beast's look in First Class. But I agree with @SUPERMAN2013. I hope he evolves to become more ape like in the sequels. And I understand why he didn't have the quips he does in the comics. He'd literally just turned into a giant, blue cat-man. If that happened to me I wouldn't really be joking around!

@BigDamnHero count me in with you. I do like how he looks in First Class. Grammer's look is better in my opinion, but I do like the look in First Class

The movie was great, enjoyed it alot. That being said I did not like the line up of characters. I wished they would have stuck the original first class from the comics and built from there.

Yeah I understand they wanted new characters from the X-Men universe. Anyways I do look forward to the sequel.

kelsey grammer looked like a goblin.
first class's beast was awesome to look at, they needed better voice dubbing and better action scenes/vfx for him though.
I did enjoy kelseys characterization much more though..

beast didn't look good in FC. It might be as he says, that they just threw him on the set in the middle of the shoot and that was the best he could come up with...

I hated Beast so much in this movie. I just was hoping Mystique would go dark and snap his neck like a twig. Then make his corpse into a furr real friend cat.

The Sentinels have to make an appearance if they are relating the title for the sequel to DOFP, or they pull a time travel effect and show scenes of the team in a dystpion future and have the Sentinels then...all in all i want SENTINELS :]

The problem with Beast was that he was wearing a jacket. He should've been bare top, like in the comics and cartoon. That's why he looked weird.
