It seems Jeremy Allen White may be on Marvel Studios' radar to take over from Hugh Jackman as our new big-screen Wolverine.
Jeff Sneider said he'd heard "whispers" that White met with Marvel about a "small role" in the X-Men reboot in his latest newsletter, but there's a chance he was referring to a rumor that sprang up earlier in the week. Regardless, other scoopers (some more reliable than others) have since weighed in, with one claiming that White - who hasn't actually been cast yet - will make his MCU debut as Logan in Avengers: Secret Wars.
White has been an outside-the-box fan pick to play Wolverine for quite a while, and we have previously heard that he's met with the studio about an undisclosed role. Even though many feel that the 5’7” actor would be a good fit for this iconic character, others can't seem to picture him taking on the role of the volatile, clawed mutant.
Though White has played very different types of characters over the course of his career, he is best known for his role as the introverted, self-loathing Carmy Berzatto in FX's The Bear, and some fans find it difficult to imagine him letting loose as the X-Men's resident berserker.
This does tend to happen. Some Joker fans were up in arms when the guy from Brokeback Mountain was cast as the Clown Prince of Crime in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight, and we know how that turned out.
This is not to suggest that anyone who happens to be apprehensive about White playing Wolverine doesn't have valid concerns, but Marvel is usually on point when it comes to casting, so it's probably best to take a "wait and see" approach.
Even if White (or another actor) is being looked at for this part, there is the perception among many fans that Marvel shouldn't introduce Wolverine in this first movie, even if it is basically just a cameo to set up future appearances.

After years of wondering what Marvel Studios had in store for the Children of the Atom, the X-Men reboot is finally starting to take shape, with Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier set to helm and writers Sonny Lee Sung Jin (Beef) and Joanna Calo (The Bear) currently working on a new draft of Michael Lesslie's script.
More recently, the main cast of the long-awaited movie was announced at D23, with Sadie Sink set to reprise her Spider-Man: Brand New Day role as Jean Grey, alongside Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Adam Driver as Nathan Milbury/Mr. Sinister.
We'd later learn that Gen V and Scream 7 star Asa Germann will play Angel, and The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping star Ben Wang is in talks to play Iceman. Beast is also expected to round out the original team of five from the comics, and a recent rumor claimed A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms star Peter Claffey has landed the role of the MCU's Hank McCoy.
