Lucas Till On What He'd Like For HAVOK In X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Sequel

The young actor spoke to IGN at E3 about some things he would like for his character Alex Summers (Havok) in the sequel to X-Men: First Class - It seems he would like the next movie to be a bit more faithful to the Havok from the comics..

Lucas Till did a decent job as Havok in the first X-Men: First Class, but like a couple of his young team mates in the movie, he wasn't really given a whole lot to do. Hopefully that will change in the now officially announced sequel, which Till confirms he will return for. He also acknowledges the changes made to Havok's powers in the movie and says he hopes things will be a bit more comic fan-friendly in the next one. And, why not throw in a bit of Polaris action while we're at it! I like the way you think son..

"All I know is that my mom told me we're going to start shooting in January. It's funny because she tells me everything that goes on before I know. I don't know if you saw, but Havok shoots hula hoops out of his body. I remember when (director Matthew Vaughn) told me, and I was like, 'NOOOO!' It's going to ruin it for all the fans of Havok and I tried to make the best of it, but I really hope in the next one that the chest piece—because there's always that circle in the middle so you could tell where his power level was at—but not necessarily used as a device to channel the energy from. I want some gauntlets or something to shoot it out of my hands, and I want Polaris in there. I want a sexy green-haired girl to fall in love with. That's all I'm asking for."

Well, I can't see Polaris (Lorna Dane) appearing as Magneto's daughter as she is in the comics, but they could use an alternate version of the character I guess. After all, Alex Summers is Scott's (Cyclops) brother and they haven't acknowledged that - at least so far. What about you guys, you looking forward to seeing Havok back for the sequel, or did he fail to leave an impression first time around?

I think Polaris would be a welcome addition to the franchise, especially if they play up the "is she Magneto's daughter?" angle.
How would Magneto handle suddenly having a potention relative after being alone for so long?

Well he is only 22, his mom has probably been his manager or one of them since he was a minor, so that makes sense, and I agree alter his powers (and just he has learned to channel them in a different way).

First Class was better than pretty much every Marvel Studios film besides maybe Iron Man and Avengers.

It isn't just about accuracy, its about making a great film and honestly marvels had a hard time making STELLAR films out of their properties. Mainly because they wont hire talent.

First Class is overrated, which usually happens when a film does more than expected. People go overboard. But it's a good film if you ignore the continuity raping. If they're not going to go by the existing fox/x-trilogy universe, I hope they at least keep in line with the story they've created thus far. I'm tired of the Magneto show, but Fassbender made the movie. Quickly followed by Bacon and Mcavoy.

@Jerbear, no please god no don't let Avengers be a template. Look it was great no doubting that but the film lacked hard in plot and character development. Yes you can argue it had its 5 films before to support, but you see most CBMs WONT have that. So no don't let Avengers be a template at all. Only for team up films.

@PowerCosmic
Marvel films don't always have great casting. Yeah the leads are great. Look beyond them. Don Cheadle was terrible COMPARED to Howard, I HATED Natalie Portman as Jane Foster (way too big a star for such a role), Rourke would've been good if he had more than 15 minutes in IM2, Bucky from Cap was the least memorable thing about that film, and all Colbie Smulders served in Avengers was to be that person people go "hey shes from how i met your mother!"

Storytelling is arguable. Iron Man was great, Iron Man 2 was decent at best, Cap and Thor were equally good, and Hulk was decent.

First Class however was Iron Man good. I could give a flying frick about what their powers were. It was a great film. Matthew Vaughn, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, these are talents you won't see in a Marvel Studios film because they're so damn cheap.

First Class was great. The mutants they chose to be in the film were strange but hey it worked a ton.

Bacon, Fassbender, McAvoy, even Lawrence and Byrne(looks ;) were simply astounding to watch.

The final battle FINALLY first CBM before Avengers to give a fulfilling final battle in A LONG TIME. Maybe since Hulk. Rest have been what less than 10 minutes?

I also loved the story of FC. Fassbender made the Holocaust connection work strong. McAvoy nailed the incredibly generous yet still young and naive Charles Xavier.

Give credit where its due, First Class may be inaccurate but I'd be damned if I lied and said it wasn't simply a great film all around. It was made in a year, holy hell thats just sad for any other CBM that took longer

If I were him, I'd want a complete reboot of the franchise! Actually done correctly for a change with the REAL first class!! I don't understand the love for that movie! It wasn't good! The only thing remotely good about it was Fassbender, because let's face it, that dude is tits!! Also, please get a new director because Matthew Vaughn sucks! Sorry fanboys, but it's true!

he's upset that they messed with havoc's powers, I'm just pissed that he's not scott summers! They're at X 1st class and they already [frick]ed the summers family tree, which [frick]s up mr. sinister, which [frick]s up Phoenix, Cable, Stryfe etc. etc....

But he did fine as an actor, given the shit deal Vaughn gave him. He sounds pretty young but he was cool

Dude, seriously? You're really going to say that it's not about accuracy, with the GLARING oversights of First Class? The changes to the roster of First Class, as well as the time frame in which it's established, is like taking the JLA (I'm assuming here that you know way more about DC than Marvel), and making the roster out of Superman, Booster Gold, Nightwing, Swamp Thing, Harlequinn, Captain Boomerang and Lex Luther. And Gorilla Grodd is in the role of Sebastian Shaw here (yep, it's that horrible already).

Ok now, Harlequinn is Superman's adopted sister "he found one night", and at the end of the movie when the team splits, she's the person who prompts Joker to become the Joker later in life, and a young Bruce Wayne gets motivation to become Batman after watching Nightwing chase after her. And then DC makes it canon from then on. Still nothing wrong with this, or does a "stellar film" make it ok to broad stroke the hell out source material?

He'd like to have an older brother named Scott, but they fricked that up, so doubt that will happen. :-P

"but the film lacked hard in plot and character development."

Your opinion and I would say the vast majority of people who saw the film would disagree with you on that. If it lacked plot and character development, the critics would have ripped it apart like they like to do with cbm's. That wasn't the case.

@Darkhaven

Once again Darkhaven, Well said.

About First Class, I think the movie was a good movie, but honestly I had to go into it looking at it as another universe type deal. In my mind, X-men will always be the original five Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Ice Man, Angel, and Beast fighting against The Brotherhood made up of Magneto, Toad, Mastermind, Quicksilver, and the Scarlet Witch.

"It isn't just about accuracy, its about making a great film and honestly marvels had a hard time making STELLAR films out of their properties. Mainly because they wont hire talent." f

Won't hire talent? Kenneth Branagh, Joe johnston, Shane Black, RDJ, Anthony Hopkins, Samuel Jackson, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Renee Russo, Scarlet Johannson, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Tommy Lee Jones, Guy Pierce, Ben Kingsley...need I go on?

For me, it's about making me believe I am actually seeing the comic come to life on the big screen. First Class made me believe I was seeing something on the big screen, but it wasn't the actual X-Men comic. It was a decent film, but a lousy comic book adaptation.

POLARIS, all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She is the right choice for the sequel, since the x-men need one girl already, and they SHOULD adress the connection with Eric, without doubt.

They're on the 60's, so its the right time to adress that issue, because the later they do want to do it, the harder it will be, with more characters, subplots and all.
