My idea for an MCU X men reboot

The Fox X men films have ranged from great to terrible. That's understandable, every franchise has its own X men origins wolverine somewhere. But that's not the only problem, the X men movies are great movies, but they feel less and less like X MEN movies as time goes on. They’re continuity is collapsing on itself and characters feel nothing like their comic selves. I propose that Fox not only reboots, but makes a deal with marvel to allow their X men to appear in crossover  marvel films and have marvel take charge of the films creatively. For the reboot I want to bring the X men back to their roots. The X men have always been kind of serious. But this doesn't mean they can't also where bright yellow costumes and save the world. Singer did a lot right. He got the idea of the X men. He got the soul but not the body. The body . The X men need costumes because they are supposed to be heroes. In fact, in the MCU this would actually make a lot of sense. Mutants are hated and feared. They need some good PR. No one really hates and fears the avengers even though they have powers. Mutant terrorists like the brotherhood of mutants are giving mutants a bad name. Sentinels are being developed. Mutants are being hunted. So Xavier has starts a school and has his students save people in danger and fight against the brotherhood wearing yellow and blue costumes. But, how do mutants exist in the MCU? Well actually, it's really easy to explain. Mutants have existed for centuries in the marvel universe, just in very small numbers. In the 20th century there were in total around 200 mutants in the entire world. But in this new generation the mutant population has skyrocketed and they are appearing around the world. Mutants were still relatively  unknown though and they were often mistaken for enhanced humans. In the past 2 years previous to this movie the X gene became public knowledge as well the fact they were the next stage of human evolution. The reactions to this information were crimes against mutants and the  American government attempting to register them  with a Sokovia accords-esque document, the mutant registration act, created by senator Robert Kelly. The government is also debating the use of inventor Boliviar Trasks sentinels, robots built to defeat criminal mutants. In reaction a mutant terrorist group called the brotherhood of mutants, led by the mysterious Magneto, has been formed. Professor Charles Xavier, a mutant telepath , has formed a school for other mutants to protect them from a world that hates and fears them. So far he only has 5 students, who has chosen to show the world that mutants should not be feared, by training them and equipping them to fight against the brotherhood and protect humans and other mutants. These are my choices for the characters that will appear in this movie:

X-men
Professor X
Scott Summers/ Cyclops
Jean Grey/ Marvel Girl
Bobby Drake/ Ice man
Warren Worthington III/ Angel
Hank McCoy/Beast
Professor X is an telepathic mutant who seeks peace between human and mutant. He was once friends with Eric Magus, before he became Magneto
Cyclops has been chosen by Xavier to lead the X men, but he is still unsure of himself. If he can't control his powers, how can he lead his team?
Jean is an extremely powerful mutant, one of the strongest Xavier has ever encountered. She likes Cyclops, he likes her, neither can admit it.
Ice man is the youngest of the students at Xavier's school
Angel is the son of Warren Worthington II, who is the CEO of the company that is producing sentinels. They have a strained relationship.
Beast is the smartest of the team. He loves to read and is an expert at genetics.
The Brotherhood of Mutants
Magneto
Toad
Blob
Mystique
Avalanche
Magneto was one of the earliest recorded signs of the X gene in Europe. He was captured and experimented on by the nazis and hydra during WWII in concentration camps. He believes that another genocide is coming, this time with mutants.
Toad is a freakish little frog like creature. He is comedy relief.
Blob was a circus freak and wrestler before he met magneto and joined the brotherhood to pay him back for helping him get out of the circus.
Mystique was an assassin for hire before she met magneto and now completely believes in his teachings. She dislikes humans.
Avalanche is a mysterious greek criminal who can cause seismic  events and minipulate the battlefield around him.

The plot of the movie will involve Xavier recruiting his students to the school and training them to protect humans and mutants. At the same time Senator Kelly is fighting for a bill to be passed allowing Sentinels to be used as mutant law enforcement. The X-men encounter The Brotherhood of Mutants  and learn about magneto. The brotherhood defeat the X men and escape but Xavier mind reads that Magneto plans to attack a navy base next and launch a nuclear weapon at  Washington. The X-Men prepare and head to the base. During the battle at the base the government decide to release the Sentinels but the X-men save the day first  when the combined powers of Jean and Scott stop the nuke. The Brotherhood is defeated and taken away by the government but Magneto disappeared in the destruction after the battle.

In the sequel the villain should be mastermold, an AI created to control the sentinels during use. The original team will be captured by mastermold and Xavier will form a new team consisting of Wolverine, Storm, NightCrawler, Colossus, and Thunderbird.

By the third movie the complete team will be Cyclops, Jean, Wolverine, Storm, NightCrawler, Collossus, and Shadow-cat. Angel's father died in the previous movie so he now runs the company. Beast has joined the avengers(as part of an attemp to improve human-mutant relations), and ice man is with family.

Future movies will deal with Magneto’s return on asteroid M trying to start a war between human and mutant, The Hellfire club manipulating Jean Grey, and the Phoenix and Dark Phoenix saga(the Phoenix is an entity from space that possesses the most powerful mutant) The Shi'ar will appear in the dark Phoenix movie.

Those are my ideas, tell me what you think.

Also, Cyclops needs to meet Captain America someday.

Love the movie idea you have here. One minor change: The Brotherhood roster. I’ve always been a huge fan of the Brotherhood, but I’m sick of seeing no one but Magneto and Mystique. It’s time to shake it up.

Toad is always a lot of fun, and seeing him bro-it-up with Blob on screen could be hilarious (if not disgusting). We've seen them on screen, but not in too much of an extended capacity. They could be replaced, but might be a-okay.

Here are some suggestions to change the roster:

Avalanche: How has this classic brotherhood member never seen the screen? He is arguably one of their strongest members. It would be a delight to see him manipulating the battlefield while duking out with the X-Men. Toad leaping across newly formed chasms to get away from mutant protestors, Blob grabbing a newly formed column and hitting Angel out the sky—Avalanche, in my opinion, is the key to making the Brotherhood have threatening synergy.

Sauron: Do Karl Lykos in his "human" form throughout the movie. Post credits scene or maybe even a secondary mutation in the movie can get him mutated into the monstrous Pterodactyl that we know and love.

Selene: I could seem her being the Starscream to Magneto's Megatron--always wanting to be the leader, but knowing she's not powerful enough (yet) to stand up to the top dog. She bides her time, waiting for the moment to take over and ultimately fulfill her destiny of becoming a mutant goddess.

Black Tom: I'd love to see him being Magneto's sort of connection to the criminal underworld. He'd be smart, crass, and quick witted.

Havok and Polaris: Hear me out—I think these are strong candidates to be brotherhood defectors You’d get some fun, Games of Thrones-like drama out of the conflict. Havok is on the wrong side of the argument against his brother, but has a streak of goodness that makes him more of a militant protestor than a mutant terrorist. Polaris can be adopted and assumes Magneto is her father, but he rejects her time after time.

My approach would be to introduce the X-Men as young-ish adults (20's or so) and already as a team that Charles has been putting together for a while. The X-Men basically recruit young mutants (exceedingly rare, as you said) and clash with Magneto's own recruiting efforts. Neither side has wanted to go public because they're afraid that humans will react badly to their existence. Professor X and Mastermind have both engaged in memory-wiping to keep mutants off of people's radar for the last few years to keep the young mutants and their conflict out of the newspapers.

Assuming the X-Men intro in the movies would be 2020, as a round number, the introduced X-Men (and their approximate ages) would be:

Cyclops (28), Storm (30), Nightcrawler (28), Dazzler (26), and Colossus (24).

The first class would be featured, but several of them already retired or in a reserve status. In particular, Phoenix (26) would act as effectively a team member early on, and already using the name Phoenix, due to her own vague memories of encountering the Phoenix Force as a child.

Angel (28), Beast (30), and Iceman (20) have decided to leave the X-Men and pursue careers elsewhere, but they are present in photographs and conversations. (And incidentally, Bobby will be attending college and meeting Peter Parker in a separate film franchise, and Hank may join the Avengers straight up in their films.)

As for a first film story, I would have the X-Men trying to uncover a secret Canadian program that uses mutants as guinea pigs and facing off against Alpha Flight, including Wolverine, as a way of introducing him to the team. (And I would probably tweak the Flight lineup slightly to make them a bit more imposing, though the MCU nowadays allows for Shaman to be a full-blown wizard).

The X-Men remain a secret for this film, more as a special operations team than superheroes (though they already dress the part in preparation for their eventually going public).

Oh, and I would introduce a class of recruits in the first X-film consisting of basically the New Mutants with definitely Shadowcat and Cannonball as teenagers who are not ready to be X-Men, but not Magik. Then in 2021, there is a Magik solo film that takes place in the X-Mansion and features the adult X-Men, but not as huge players. The movie would be based around the Juggernaut attacking the X-Mansion (classic story) combined with the Magik miniseries from the 80's.

Basically, Illyana is visiting her brother and Juggernaut attacks. Illyana watches helplessly as the X-Men aren't able to stop him. Illyana and Professor X lock themselves away in the safest room in the mansion, but the Juggernaut smashes in, then Illyana's powers activate and drag her into Limbo, where she relives Juggernaut's attack over and over (in twisted "broken time" fashion, while being tortured and trained by Belasco). After an unknown eternity in Belasco's hell, she defeats him and escapes to the real world, where she saves everyone from Juggernaut by teleporting him several hundred miles away.

I use "solo film" loosely. All the X-Men movies are team films, but with different amounts of focus on different people. Basically the adult X-Men have a few casual scenes, and the one big Juggernaut action sequence (about 10 minutes long), and then the rest of the movie takes place in Limbo "during" that fight. It serves as a backdrop, but Magik is stuck outside of time. Sort of Langolier-like.

I love any article that looks to bring the mutants back to the MCU. Good job

The hardest part of merging the mutants into the MCU is probably the older mutants - Wolverine, Magneto, Apocalypse, Namor... even Prof X and Mystique.

Where have they been? Why are they not on SHIELDS radar or the thingy Hydra used in Cap 2? Where were they during the alien invasion?

I guess Logan is a loner and could be explained away as weird myth like Winter Soldier. Cool if they did a flashback with Cap, Bucky and Logan. Most popular X-man.

Mags history would have to be re-written for him to be relevant as he would be too old(80+)if he was in a Nazi prison camp. Maybe Bosnia or Uganda or a time machine? Most important X-man villain.

Apocalypse actually comes and goes a bit so this is easy. The first mutant?

Namor could be minding his own business underwater until the surface world piss him off enuff to appear - Infinity War, Galactus..maybe he sees Sue Storm on TV?
Would love a flashback of him finding a frozen Captain America. Also a conflict with Black Panther would be movie gold. The first Mutant?

Xavier is tricky because he is meant to be one of the good guys so should be helping out in world invasions but like you say the mutants were undercover for a while so maybe he was just trying to protect them from persecution - how'd that work out for ya Charlie?

Mystique - she could have been around forever as she can shape change means she never goes saggy and I guess she can just fix her self up. I could see her being in a Black Widow spy movie.

Man I wish I was a shape changer. I would change myself into #@$%&^$#@ and then I would %^@*^%$@ myself in the mirror.. whoa this is why I don't write articles.

I like your ideas Noah I really do but wolverine is going to be in the first movie with the X men he is to big of character not to be.they other thing I want to see is the brood and mr fricking sinister done right. I think it would be neat to see the avengers vs the X men too if cyclops meets captain America,I think I good introduction would be that they avengers go to place that hydra are relocated but they don't realize that hydra captured some mutants to experiment with and torture,so they avengers capture hydra and thier documents about other things other then finding out there is mutants located in that felicity with them.they avengers leave thinking they did all of there jobs correctly but the X men having someone like Xavier found out thier was a few died mutants where they avengers where located.this makes cyclops very angry and asks Xavier where they avengers are located.xavier tells him but he tells him to approach with caution.sorry for my goofy thinking
