Avengers: Doomsday reshoots are currently underway (it seems the recent report that Avengers: Secret Wars had commenced filming was premature), and several internet scoopers believe that Marvel Studios is using this round of additional photography to add a few cameos.
Jeremy Renner has hinted that he's back in the Hawkeye suit, and Elizabeth Olsen's stunt-double has confirmed that she's currently working on something on her Instagram page. Now, it looks like we can add Mark Ruffalo to the mix... or can we?
During this week's episode of The Hot Mic, Jeff Sneider said he'd heard that Ruffalo took a break from filming the second season of HBO's Task last weekend to shoot something for a Marvel Studios project, and his source told him it was the X-Men reboot.
We assume they got it wrong and Ruffalo filmed something for either Doomsday or Secret Wars, but if the actor was going to be too busy closer to the time, it is possible that he shot a scene for X-Men even though (as far as we know) the movie hasn't entered production.
As for why Bruce Banner/Hulk would be mixing it up with the mutants, it could have something to do with his work on the inhibitor chip that was introduced in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Banner designed the inhibitor to prevent him from "Hulking out," but Peter Parker modified it to suppress his own transformation, and there's speculation that technology will ultimately be used to create the mutant inhibitor collars or something similar.
This is all just speculation, of course, but whatever project Ruffalo filmed for, there's a very good chance we'll be seeing the Green Goliath again fairly soon.
Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars were hit with significant delays last year, with Doomsday now set to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026, and Secret Wars positioned for December 17, 2027.
Both movies will be directed by the Russo brothers, who also make their MCU return after helming Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
