Many were taken aback by last week's issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine which featured our first official look at next year's X-Men: Apocalypse on the cover. More specifically, our first look at Oscar Issac as the titular supervillain, also known as En Sabah Nur, was not very well received. And while we've had a another discouraging closeup on Apocalypse, we now have an ultra-high quality textless version of that EW cover, which also features Olivia Munn as Psylocke and Michael Fassbender as Magneto. Check out the cool image below and click to enlarge! What do you think?

Directed by Bryan Singer, X-Men: Apocalypse stars Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), with Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), with Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler), Rose Byrne (Moira MacTaggert) and Oscar Isaac (Apocalypse). The movie opens on May 27, 2016.

They never did the same for the full Trinity photo, did they? :((

But this looks good, despite Apocalypse not looking great.

I think that's photoshopped, unfortunately.

Damn, your right, I'll take it down. At least we have this

Though the photoshopped version is my screensaver. That's my only problem with EW, they ALWAYS slap their watermark and/or don't release covers without the text.

When at the San Diego Airport after Comic Con, I made sure to buy the magazine. A piece of history.

Haha, nice. Definitely history.

Also, more importantly, we have these.... Finally!! Can't wait man

Despite the X-Men not seeming to be in costume really (besides Jubille, holy shit she looks incredible!!) and of course Apocalypse, the Horsemen look on point from what I can tell. The second of footage for Angel looked on point. Magneto and Psylocke look incredible. And Storm looks [frick]ing godlike.

I'm rather unorthodox on my opinions on this series. YES, it does [frick] the source really badly. BUT, some of them are very well made> I feel X2, First Class and DoFP are all AMAZING films. I like the series for what it is, despite not getting the source right. But I think they are gravitating towards the source a bit more with this, Deadpool and (possibly) Gambit.

Same here man, I'm really trying to avoid all speculation for both movies though, I'm positive that I'll enjoy them more that way. I love what I saw in the trailers though, couldn't be happier

Haha, I was enjoying it. That first official Spidey in the MCU article is priceless

I honestly think Apocalypse looks awesome, even though it's not ripped from the comic. It's Magneto I have a problem with. Why all the paddings and armor ????? His suits in the first trilogy were good, but I think they never achieved something as good as that suit he had at the end of First Class.

I imagine that Magneto and Psylocke are wearing their armor as Apocalypse's Horsemen. The detail is very similar to what Apoc has on his.

The EW cover is definitely what Apocalypse looks like. That picture of him that makes him look purplish is probably due to lighting and it not exactly being an image in the final film.

A message from Apocalypse himself on reaction to his new appearance:

I've been called many things over many comic forums: 80s Film Reject, Return of the Ooze, Barney, a Lavender Smurf. I am here to spark and man the flame of fanboy's ragewakening, to spin the wheel of comic book movies back by decades.

You are all dumb children, and you're lost... because you follow ignorant production companies and their blind directors. Everything they build will succeed... and from the massive stubs of their ticket sales we'll build more franchises that deviate from source material!

Who the [frick] am I? Come and see...

Is there really any debate on Apocalypse? I don't need something to be 100% comic accurate, but when this cosplay...

...is both much more faithful and just looks better, it's hard not to look at this and be disappointed.

Well damn Psylocke and Magneto look [frick]ing awesome IMO.

But you done [frick]ed up Apocalypse like I knew you would Singer.

[frick]ing cosplay of Apocalypse is better than this.

We got Thanos in the movies looking like Thanos in the comics. We all know Snyder would make Darkseid look like Darkseid from the comics. But you just have to be the stupid kid in class that can't do anything right can't you Singer?
Spock0Clock
Spock0Clock - 7/19/2015, 2:25 PM
Talking mostly about the face makeup here. The costume itself needed some degree of redesign to take it away from gritty Megaman.

Damn this textless photo really IMO makes Magneto's look better in the film. Magneto looks so [frick]ing awesome.

Apocalypse... sorry, still bad. >:(

Psylocke... the overall look is really nice, but it being Munn somehow ruins the effect for me. :(

Magneto... the armor-y costume might be a bit too much, and I'm still unhappy about the character in DoFP. Still one of my favourite X-castings of all. Put some white hair on Fassbender in the movie and I'll cry happy tears (probably not, though)! :)
