Rumor: Wolverine Movie, Young Hank Pym And Janet Van Dyne, And Classic X-Men Costumes Coming To The MCU

Marvel Studios reportedly has big plans for the MCU's next Saga, with a new rumour teasing a Wolverine solo movie, younger versions of Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne, and more classic Avengers.

Marvel Studios reportedly has some major plans for the Marvel Cinematic Universe's next Saga, with a new batch of rumours teasing a solo Wolverine movie and the introduction of younger versions of two founding Avengers.

According to scooper @MyTimeToShineH, a Wolverine feature is in development at Marvel Studios, with an A-list director already attached. While no further details have been shared, it makes sense for Marvel Studios to spotlight the clawed mutant in this way (presumably following his rumoured appearances in X-Men and Alpha Flight).

Hugh Jackman's portrayal of Logan is nothing short of iconic, and after saying his goodbyes in 2017's Logan, he most recently reprised the role in Deadpool & Wolverine. While he's expected to appear in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, the latter will almost certainly be his final time playing the hero.

The scooper has also claimed that young versions of Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne will debut in the MCU's next saga. They were founding Avengers in the comics, and the expected post-Secret Wars soft reboot opens the door to taking any number of familiar faces in new directions.

Hope Van Dyne actress Evangeline Lilly has retired from acting, while Paul Rudd's Scott Lang has arguably run his course. The introduction of a young Hank and Janet has heaps of storytelling potential moving forward.

It's also said that more classic Avengers will return following Avengers: Secret Wars. It's unclear which characters the studio has in mind, but the possibility of a more traditional Avengers lineup is certainly intriguing.

We know that Michael Douglas is done with Hank Pym, as he recently confirmed that he's wanted the original Ant-Man to die since at least 2018. "I would have been killed off after the second one, but they wouldn’t let me," the actor said last month.

"I said, 'I’ve never done a green screen movie,'" Douglas later said of what drew him to an MCU role. "I [told] all my agents, 'I’d like to do one of these green screen movies to see what they’re like,' you know? Because it’s amazing. It’s nothing, just a green screen and they show you the pictures of what it’s gonna look like when it’s all finished."

Time will tell whether these rumours pan out, but the MCU's next Saga is certainly shaping up to be exciting. In 2028, it kicks off with X-Men, with Ghost Rider and Black Panther 3 following later that same year.

Talking of the X-Men, The Cosmic Circus' Alex Perez has revealed that the MCU's Merry Mutants will be decked out in comic-accurate costumes in Jake Schreier's upcoming reboot...

I'd love a Wolverine movie with Omega Red and Cyber as the villains.
