X-MEN: DOFP To "Right Wrongs Of The Past"; Bryan Singer Not Mentioned At WonderCon Panel

In what could be a sign of things to come, X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer wasn't mentioned at the WonderCon panel for the movie, while Simon Kinberg has described it as making up for Fox's past mistakes. Which ones? Well, X-Men: The Last Stand's take on Dark Phoenix for one...

Writer and producer Simon Kinberg was on hand at the WonderCon panel for X-Men: Days of Future Past today as a replacement for the previously announced Bryan Singer due to the allegations made earlier this week that the director raped an underage teen. While the host of the panel used alluded to the subject, there was not so much as a single mention of Singer according to The Hollywood Reporter. This could give us an indication of where things might go from here, especially as there have already been rumblings that the filmmaker won't appear at any of the premieres of press junkets. While he is innocent until proven guilty, Fox clearly don't want him associated with the movie until this whole situation is dealt with. In other news, Kinberg had this to say about the big screen adaptation of the beloved comic book story. "This and the Dark Phoenix are two most famous stories. We could have done better with the Dark Phoenix," Kinberg said, referring to the critically panned take on the story in X-Men: The Last Stand. "This is our attempt to right the wrongs [of] the past." How do you guys feel about this news? Sound off below.

@Mrbj it wasnt renners mistake..,singer bailed on x3 for Superman returns...he was already in pre-production for x3 when he left...

But I thought Singer said he was in Canada when the rape apparently occurred. Why is he trying so hard to avoid promotion if he's confident that he didn't do it?

@TheAbaryMan369

I don't think he has a choice in the matter. I think Fox wants him away from the project more than anything.

Contrary to popular belief, Ratner entered into X3 so late in the game that most of what was already there belonged to Vaughn/Singer. It was hardly Ratner's movie at all, but he gets all the blame unfortunately. It's pretty hard to make a movie completely change course when the storyboards are all already in place, the script is mostly set in stone, and pre production is already underway.

People can blame Ratner because he's the director, but he strikes me as someone who basically says "Yes" to everything, including a poor script. So to me, Kinberg and Penn are to blame.

The more Fox and ABC distance themselves the more I think he is guilty.

I think DOFP will alter the timeline and erase the events of Last Stand (or alter them) and Logan will wake up in present day to find Jean and Cyclops alive and the future saved.

Janssen and Marsden need to return. I'd hate to think of their last appearance in this franchise being a poor one.

Jean, Scott, Angel and Mystique should be Horsemen in Apocalypse!
Romijn has gotten back to her "Mystique" body lately, could she return? Hmmm

@mrbj retner came too late..fox should have delayed the film..they had the storyboards ready before he came...he nearly had no creative input in that film...he was just on the set for management..

Fox can easily "right wrongs of the past" with a reboot. But they have a hard-on for Fassbender,Jackman, and Lawrence so it's not going to happen.

why do you feel the need to mention the polemic issue in all the articles about this movie, Josh?

the issue was already posted two days ago, to repeat it on each article is really tasteless and is starting to seem like a troll move. no offense, but thats how its looking
