After watching Xmen First Class, i sit here wondering was it really a superhero movie. It seems quite different from the Hulks, Spidermans, and even Iron Man movies. This was a movie about two men and their dream. Everything else seemed secondary. There was good and there was evil but the lines blurred and hazed a bit here and there. The horrible circumstances that turned a lone child into one of the worlds most powerful antagonist Magneto, resounds like a 'splinte in the minds eye'. He chose redemption his own way at a high cost. The cost of his friendship with Xavier. Xavier was responsible for helping develope the humanity that yet remained in Eric, but alas it wasn't enough. Magneto has risen from the ashes without a hint of turning back, his destiny to him as assured as his mastery over metal.
Xavier on the other hand was pretty much put in the position to save the world. Through his great forsight which probably had nothing to do with his 'mind powers' saw the destiny of mankind and mutants. At first believing they could live hand in hand yet still drawn by Magneto's revelation of the inevitable, survival of the fittest. Mankind will always make the first move to ensure it's continued existence. Sometimes the cost may m inhumane but the would doesn't always offer you a chance for a second chance.
This was the greatness of who would later become Professor Xavier. Given the chance to ensure his and mutant kinds continued existence, he considered force as the last option. Even then, only that much force needed to remedy the situation. He could settle the problem forever if he really wanted too but it would be at the cost of his humanity. With that said, the Xmen First Class is in my opinion, first rate!
Go see it!
