It sounds like a sequel to 2017's underrated spy thriller Atomic Blonde might be in the works for Netflix.
Directed by David Leitch (John Wick, Deadpool 2), the first film focused on undercover MI6 Agent Lorraine Broughton (Charlize Therone), who is sent to Berlin during the Cold War to investigate the murder of a fellow agent. While there, she becomes embroiled in a conspiracy involving The KGB, and is forced to kill a whole bunch of people.
Theron first revealed that there was "talk of a sequel" while attending the San Francisco Film Festival in 2018, but we haven't had any solid updates since. Now, Discussing Film reports that Atomic Blonde 2 is officially in development for the streaming service, but it's still early days and no writer has been attached.
It's not known if production company 87Eleven, who is also in the process of developing a live-action adaption of The Division video game for Netflix, will be involved, but original producer Kelly McCormack is expected to return. It's also assumed that Theron and Leitch will be back, but we await official confirmation on that front.
