New X-Men Rumors Say These Classic Members Are Next To Join The Cast

With Cyclops, Marvel Girl, and Angel officially joining the MCU's X-Men film, multiple rumors suggest the full 'original five' roster will form the core team.

New rumors state that Marvel Studios is looking to bridge the gap between comic purists and X-Men fans by introducing the original 5 while also appeasing fans who are more casual and likely more aware of the Fox X-Men films and the cartoon.

While Giant-Size X-Men heavyweights like Storm (Maya Boyd) and Rogue (Inde Navarrette) are set to appear, 3/5 of the original 5 are also confirmed, including Cyclops (Kit Connor), Marvel Girl/Jean Grey (Sadie Sink) and Angel (Asa German).

Rumor scoopers are certain that the remaining members from the original 5 are also going to be cast soon, specifically Beast and Iceman. Furthermore, Marvel Studios is said to be looking to further differintiate it's film from the X-Men films that came before by keeping Beast in his human look- meaning no blue fur; he'll just have the oversized hands and feet.

Meanwhile, additional online whispers suggest Bobby Drake is up next on Kevin Feige’s casting board, meaning an official Iceman reveal could drop any day now.

Charles Melton was heavily rumored to be up for the role of Beast in the upcoming X-Men film, but it now seems as if he may have chosen the role of  Kakashi in Daniel Destin Cretton's upcoming live-action Naruto movie.

Other names that have surfaced previously for Hank McCoy include Percy Jackson star Logan Lerman and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' Peter Claffey.

For Iceman, names that have surfaced include Jack Champion (Avatar: The Way of Water) and Connor Storrie (Heated Rivalry).

The MCU X-Men movie is scheduled for release on May 5, 2028. Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts*, Beef) is directing from a script written by Michael Lesslie (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, Fast Forever).

Besides Connor, Boyd, Sink, Navarrette, and German, other confirmed cast members include Christopher Abbott as Professor X,  Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, and Adam Driver as Mister Sinister.

Set for release after Avengers: Secret Wars, the film will kick off Phase 7 of the MCU. Other films in this phase include Ghost Rider (July 28, 2028) and Black Panther III (December 15, 2028).

@JLa0620 - tElling 0f the faCt that Marvel felt the need to retroactively change an established character’s sexuality rather than sImply create a new gay character. Eye take issue with chang1ng an established one and pretending thAt’s somehow beyond cr1tici5m

@TheLobster - Suddenly making a character gay out of the blue who has been straight for 50 plus years is a pathetic and lazy way to boost your company’s ESG scores bruv.

@soberchimera - exactly. Really ruined the character for me honestly. Sorta stopped with X-Men after that. All for equality and representation btw but that was about as pathetically woke you could get.

@soberchimera - it made iceman infinitely more interesting to me. Now we have narrative freedom with him. How did his original sexuality improve or add color to who ice man was, metaphorically? And I'm not talking about his romance to rogue in the movies

@Vigor - You obviously weren’t interested enough to buy his solo series after he came out since it was cancelled after 11 issues.

@harryba11zack - It’s Disney, of course he’ll be gay. That came much, much later in the comics but they’ll say it’s “comic accurate” since it technically is even though Bobby Drake liked the cat for decades before

@harryba11zack - dude. He was always gay. Like in real life, he had to be cool & play n-ice for the straights. Don't be so cold, representation is important for everyone, especially young gays who, in my day, never had a superhero they could relate to in this little comic world to get away from the real one that might treat them like shih.
It's 2026... chilllll

TheLobster
TheLobster - 9/12/2026, 4:06 PM
@soberchimera - I could understand if they made a ton of characters both gay and act completely different than they were but this? I truly don’t care either way (I’m indifferent) but it’s hilarious when folks get all bent out of shape over a fictional character being gay now.

I only care on story and being gay doesn’t really change a damn thing.
TheLobster
TheLobster - 9/12/2026, 4:09 PM
@ModernAudience - *pulls out a mirror*

I’m straight and I actually don’t care if they keep his character straight in the film because it’s a fictional character and I only care about the story and how well the characters interact. Sexuality has no real impact unless they turn Bobby into the main protagonist and I very much doubt they ever will.

Folks getting actually impacted about this is straight up retarded and homophobic. Oh no! Don’t make this.. *shudder*.. gaaaaaay

This way they can tell his story and when the mutation came and that affected him. I believe he played football in school as well. Hope they touch on this plus show the plane scene with Scott, his parents and brother. Some origins stories tied in.

@hue66 - Sinister being the villain, I'm thinking they could lean into Scott's family more. Maybe even tease Gabriel.

hue66 - 9/12/2026, 2:42 PM
@ObserverIO - Agreed. Many know who Alex is especially is but he would be an interesting character to explore especially as it relates to one of Xaviers unpopular decisions. Scott still needs to discover that his brother Alex is alive in 97 and I hope it's a revelation they explore in the new movies as well. Along with Gabriel

@hue66 - aw man, we NEED papa Summers in this reboot. I just rewatched the cartoon and it added a whole other layer on Cyclops' insecurities as a Mutant always feeling abandoned. Also a great way for the X-Men to go to space and get intercepted by the Shi'ar. Like a lot of things in the comics, it basically writes itself!

Wait - the script is from the same person that wrote the worst installment of The Tributes of Panem?
And Assassins Creed?
And the upcoming Fast Forever?

That doesn't sound very good.
knomad

The problem with X-Men is that the original characters got much more interesting much later. Beast got cool when he got blue and furry (and became an Avenger). Angel was more interesting (and powerful) as Archangel. Iceman got powered-up. And Jean Grey became Phoenix; nuff said.

But doing those stories is hard to do right, especially in the space of a couple movies. The build-up to the Phoenix saga in X-Men 2 was awesome, then they hosed it up. Movies don't give time to let things percolate.

Just my $.02

@knomad - also one of X-men books angle was show to healing factor like Logan so much lore and history fans know Angel about that changes in that issue for fans new to read up on
ObserverIO

@knomad - Hopefully this time they get into the nitty gritty more. We got the Phoenix Saga twice, but we never really got it once you know what I mean?
hue66
hue66 - 9/12/2026, 2:46 PM
@knomad - That's why I wish they would have a companion tv series that explores the stories leading up to big budget event films. Then somewhat conclude those event level story possibly ending with a cliffhanger continuing again in the TV series. And repeat.
Loohnutick
Loohnutick - 9/12/2026, 5:35 PM
@knomad - This may be unpopular but I want a Phoenix adaptation again. The thing is, it needs it's own Phase worth of build up.

If you want to differentiate from the fox ones just don’t make Wolverine the leader and spotlight. I honestly don’t know why they focus on differentiating. Just tell the best story
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 9/12/2026, 12:05 PM
@MyCoolYoung - it’s because people then complain about it being the same thing we got before…

Trust me it happens hence them wanting to differentiate.

@TheVisionary25 - 100%. I’ll add that some people will complain regardless. This is why we can’t have nice things. 😄
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 9/12/2026, 12:13 PM
@MrRossBot - that’s true but i can see some critics atleast saying there was no need to reboot if they were just going to do the same thing hence you don’t want to give them that excuse to give a negative review.
