Zilla, we disagree from time to time but I can almost always at least see where you're coming from...not this time. You must have been watching with your eyes closed and the sound down:)

The Raid was good, but best action movie ever?! Better than Die Hard? Better than Predator? Better than The Matrix.

STRETCHHHHHH

I don't really see the likes of The Matrix as a straight up action movie..more sci-fi with a lot of action! But yeah, I'd rate The Raid above Die Hard.

Gusto, yeah...just. I do love Die Hard but The Raid gave me [frick]in palpitations. Plus we had all those shitty sequels after Die Hard (yes, even the second one) so it kinda dilutes the brand a bit:)

I enjoyed the Raid for the most part but got tiresome of the over the top and repetitive fight scenes and thin story about half way through. Still a decent action movie but really overrated.

I guess Mad Dog is back.

@B3atnation

Mad Dog lived for the fight, don't forget how many people Rama had to go through first and that the other dude had just gotten his ass handed to him as well.

I loved that fight - that's what the final battle of IM2 should have been like

Action? The Raid.

Performance? Die Hard.

Cinematography/design? Dredd.

It depends on what you want...

repetitive fight moves in the raid,...u joking right??
have you seen jackie chan, jet li?? how they do fight scenes, or even jaa who tries to do the same thing the way they do (only with more acrobatic and parkour shiitt),...HK action right now only depends on 50 yo donnie yen,...hehe, which is better that yen should join the the cast of the raid 2, so he can fight yayan or cecep.
sorry guys,... but the ages of HK Martial Art Movie are over !!

I'll add my enthusiastic thumbs up for The Raid. If you haven't seen the first one, see it. It's like 90 minutes of ass kicking goodness. And then when I thought it was over, the characters jumped out of the screen and gave my ass a right thrashing as well. Seriously, that movie kicked MY ass!

First of all this movie is great and second please don't bad mouth Jack n Jet they are the reason we all love these type of movies and third I still want a Jackie Chan/Jet Li crossover movie set in the 90s.

The Raid wasn't bad, but far from the best action movie of all time.

It's extremely overrated on this site. I guess there are a lot of martial arts movie fans here.
