Blu-Ray Details For UNDERWORLD: AWAKENING Released

The latest installment in the action/fantasy franchise, starring Kate Beckinsale, is hitting DVD/Blu-Ray this summer. Check out the list of bonus features and more after the jump.

The fourth installment in the successful Underworld franchise, Underworld: Awakening 3D, was released in January this year and grossed $62,321,039 domestically/$152,492,405 worldwide. Now, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment announces that the film (which stars Kate Beckinsale as Selene, a vampire negotiating her way through the war between the Vampire and Lycan species) will be released on Blu-Ray/Blu-Ray 3D on May 8th. In addition, a box set featuring all four movies in the Underworld series will be released the same day as Awakening's individual release; expect an official announcement for that to be made soon. For now, here are the bonus features that will be on the Underworld: Awakening Blu-Ray:

Such a poor film! Couldn't even be saved by Kate Beckinsale in that outfit.

I think this site needs a purge of anything that isnt about a movie based on a comic book. All this nonsense about stuff that happens to have a comic book made of it even more tenuous links to comic books and geek stuff just floods this site with news on things im not here for.

I know my opinion matters in no way at all but the amount of stuff that isnt based on a comic book that comes up on here gets a tad irritating after a while.

it may as well just be any other movie blog

so its based on that comic or that comic was made about the film?

i dont mean to be arsey about it but it gets to the point where people must see something online they want to make an article about and then rush to see if there has ever been a comic book made about it.

like bond articles and stuff about prometheus and hunger games

This movie was ok but definately the worst of the series. I loved the first movie, the second movie now bores me and Rise of the lycans is the best and my favorite

I guess I'll play devil's advocate. I'm a huge fan of the Underworld series, have been from the start. While this film is arguably the worst (that word's a little strong for my tastes, but it's the language you guys seem to understand) I had a ball watching it in theaters.

The reason why I say it isn't as good as the previous is two-fold.
1. It's shorter that the others.
2. It's further removed from the others by way of plot. Selene is the only familiar character, hence the audience's feeling of dissociation from the movie's world.

If I'm not mistaken, the comics were published after some of the movies. In fact, Rise Of The Lycans was adapted into comic form by Kevin Grevioux.

If we only covered movie adaps that sprang directly from comics we would be posting, as Tea said, maybe 3 or for articles a day. Every comic book movie themed blog and website followed suit when we began to expand our horizons a bit. I think that we push it a bit with some stuff that is posted myself (action movies like Bourne with no links at ALL to comics etc), but I think any type of sci-fi/fantasy movie with ties in some way to comics should be fair game.

I thought it was awesome, jus wished they had some lucian and the elder vampires in it or something continuing from the old vampires.... But i still thought it was good....
