Daisy Jones & The Six star Camila Morrone is officially heading to 1980s South Beach Florida, becoming the newest powerhouse addition to the stacked Miami Vice ’85 cast.

She boards a sequel/reboot project that will see Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther, Sinners) and Austin Butler (Elvis, Dune: Part Two) star as Crockett and Tubbs.

Other confirmed cast members include Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story, Weapons) and Whitney Peak (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping).

Peak is said to be portraying Tubbs' (Michael B. Jordan) main love interest in the reboot. Word on the street is she might actually be playing the role of Valerie Gordon; an iconic role famously originated by the legendary Pam Grier.

Meanwhile, details on who Ehrenreich and Morrone are playing are still being kept strictly under wraps by Kosinski.

Jordan and director Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy, Oblivion) were attached to the project first, with Butler coming into the picture much later.

Butler reportedly fell in love with the script and pursued the role very aggressively, despite reports that Universal originally had their eyes on Glen Powell. Butler’s pitch was so convincing that Jordan himself jumped in to lobby the studio to lock him down instead.

It was first confirmed that the Top Gun: Maverick director would be helming the project back in November 2025.

On working with Jordan and Butler, he stated, "Michael is someone I’ve admired for a long time, [and] always wanted to work with him. Austin, I think, is proving himself as someone to watch. Again, I’ve just have really admired his choices."

The Miami Vice reboot is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on May 19, 2028. Dan Gilroy (Nightcrawler) and Eric Warren Singer (Top Gun: Maverick) are co-writing the script. It was previously reported that the film will take its cues from the pilot episode of the original TV show.

Similar to Top Gun and F1, the film is being developed specifically for the IMAX format.

The original Miami Vice show followed two undercover detectives, James "Sonny" Crockett (Don Johnson) and Ricardo "Rico" Tubbs (Philip Michael Thomas), who are partnered together in the Metro-Dade Police Department's Vice Squad in Miami, Florida.

They worked undercover to infiltrate and take down the city's vast criminal underworld, focusing on drug cartels, arms dealers, and sex traffickers.

First two or three seasons were must-see television. I even liked the movie they did a while back.

This movie is going to make at least 600 million. Book it. Perfect cast and a director at the top of his game. Get Ludwig or Hans for the score. Maybe Pemberton and you got a [frick]ing 5 star banger

@bobevanz - I actually liked Colin Farrell and Jaime Foxx in the roles (and I totally am not a huge fan of Foxx).
But hopefully the story and director will do better than the movie...I liked the movie, but I felt it could have been better

Great addition. She was fantastic in that Netflix horror miniseries that came out recently.

@EscapeMySight - She really is a good actress; I also saw her in the series *The Night Manager* with Tom Hiddleston, and I liked her performance there. To me, she would be a good candidate for Wonder Woman!

@RobertARZVenez - she's been my pick for WW for a good bit now, won't happen but I think she could have been pretty good!

I definitely am not excited about Michael B in this. I think he's a highly overrated actor, I haven't seen much range in him. Plus I don't think he can pull off velvety smooth as Tubbs was. Maybe I'll go rewatch Sinners to see if I can see it in that movie

@Pathogen -
I despise Michael B Johnson as well because he is very overrated and he seems to be in just about everything these days.

He's not even a good actor really. I think they put him in everything because of his fat lips and his body build

Cool , hell of a cast being put together and Kosinski is a solid director to have at the helm of this…

Also I think Alden is playing the villain which is an interesting choice!!.
