DEADPOOL 2 Director David Leitch Is In Talks To Helm The Remake Of Bruce Lee's ENTER THE DRAGON

Few martial art films are held in the same regard as 1973's Enter the Dragon, but Warner Bros. intends to remake the classic Bruce Lee flick, and the studio is eyeing director David Leitch for the project.

Enter the Dragon was released in 1973, but it is still considered by many to be one of the greatest most iconic martial arts films ever made. And while many factors led to the movie earning this status, the fact that it featured the charismatic presence of the legendary Bruce Lee.

Yet, in spite of its popularity, Warner Bros. is actively developing a remake of the classic film that currently has no actors or writers attached. However, it sounds like the studio may have found a director for the project

According to a report from Deadline, David Leitch (Deadpool 2) is in early talks to take the reins of the martial arts film, and if he signs on, he will be following in the footsteps of director Robert Clouse who helmed the original feature.

So, what do you folks think of this report? Are you even interested in seeing a remake of the Bruce Lee-led classic? Make sure to share your thoughts in the comments below.

There is no reason on this planet, outside of money talking, that this film should be remade. Its 100% unnecessary and should not happen. Just some movies you don't remake...

@HeavyMetal4Life - Next, they will remake Casablanca as a lesbian love story between two geriatrics

@HeavyMetal4Life - Yep. Your comment pretty much says it all. There is absolutely no need to remake this movie at all.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Agree, WB is prob going to make an excuse for a white lead because the original lead in Enter the dragon was John Saxxon's character, even though Bruce Lee was the heart and soul of the film. Typical Hollywood cash grab.

But if the movie succeeds this can lead to a good Mortal Kombat reboot.

@mastakilla39 - I was thinking they’ll probably white wash some characters.
I’ll say it now - ScarJo to play Bruce Lee’s character!

Regardless of how this turns out, it'll most likely be better than that Birth of the Dragon movie that came out last year.

I'd say if you're gonna do it (which is dumb)...Go with a new actor.

If they're gonna remake it, please just keep the name the same. New story and new character. Asian male lead please! There are zero bankable ones, let's change that.
MUTO123

@MikeHawk - Donnie Yen, maybe?
KingGrimlock

@MikeHawk - I agree. Western cinema definitely needs more bankable Asian stars.

Andy Lau is like an absolute God here. Huang Bo and Eddie Peng need to have more mainstream break throughs in Western cinema though. Andy is amazing, but a little old now. When Iron Man first came out in 2008, I wanted Andy to be Namor as I think he would have been perfect.

@MUTO123 - There's more asian actors than Donnie Yen...
MUTO123
MUTO123 - 7/23/2018, 9:10 PM
@Himura - I know, I'm just saying that Donnie Yen would probably be my personal pick.

@KingGrimlock - sounds like you're living in Hong Kong. I'm cantonese and have been thinking the actor HAS to be chinese-american if they really wanna pay homage to Bruce.

I'm kind of tired of seeing half-asians on tv/film. It's almost as if in order to have an asian on screen, they'll only get it if they have more western appearances like Chloe Bennet, Henry Golding, Ross Butler.

Even Chloe Bennet admitted to changing her last name to get more auditions.

Where my East Asian faces at?
KingGrimlock
KingGrimlock - 7/23/2018, 11:36 PM
@MikeHawk - definitely. I actually live in Chongqing but I'm down to HK for business at least once a month it seems lately.

It's sad to me that a lot of these actors are kind of one and done in western cinema, so I would love someone to really break through. Even Donnie yen, who is arguably one of the most popular actors here, is just "that blind Jedi guy" to a lot of people. But hey, hurrah for li bingbing and jing tian, I guess?
mastakilla39
mastakilla39 - 7/24/2018, 9:38 AM
@MUTO123 - My pick would be either Max Zhang, Wu Jing, or Tony Jaa the leads in Killzone 2 or SPL 2. Love Donnie Yen to death, but he is too old now (54).

I don't mind if David Leitch makes a movie with martial arts. His style could work well with those types of movies. But just don't remake a Bruce Lee movie, it's just wrong to do so.

Warner Brothers, oh boy. You suck so hard, but the remake/reboot/recycle shit machine needs to do this I guess. We may as well start remaking Gone with the Wind, Citizen Kane, and Casablanca pronto.

@relentless1 - I agree. It is like remaking the original spaghetti westerns of Clint Eastwood... it should just be left alone. They are perfect.
