DEADPOOL 2 Director David Leitch Says His Goal Is To Make THE FALL GUY The Next LETHAL WEAPON

David Leitch is hoping the release of The Fall Guy, which stars Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Winston Duke, and Hannah Waddingham, is the starting point of a new action franchise.

Director David Leitch (Bullet Train, Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde) has let it be known that he intends to turn The Fall Guy into a franchise with numerous installments if the film's May 3 release leads to box office success.

Speaking to Total Film, Leitch stated, "I know I want to go on a journey with these characters for multiple films. I want Lethal Weapon numbers. I love these people so much, and also I love these characters… If I could work with this crew and these actors in this world that Kelly [McCormick - Leitch's wife and producing partner] and I know so well – yeah, this would be a blast. I hope people want more."

Emily Blunt (Oppenheimer, A Quiet Place films, Sicario) was a bit more cautious in her response, stating, "We’ll have to see if people love it, you know? I would do many Fall Guys if I could. It was just too much fun."

Between Blunt and Ryan Gosling (Barbie, La La Land, Drive) alone, the movie already has an all-star, award-winning ensemble.

Emmy winner Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso, Hocus Pocus 2) also co-stars, with Winston Duke (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) and Academy Award nominee Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once) also appearing in supporting roles.

Gosling stars as a stuntman Colt Seavers who, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, has to track down a missing movie star (played by James Bond hopeful Aaron Taylor-Johnson) who just so happens to be appearing in a film directed by his ex-wife (Blunt).

But as the mystery around the missing star deepens, Colt will find himself ensnared in a sinister, criminal plot that will push him to the edge of a fall more dangerous than any stunt.

The film is inspired by the hit 1980s TV series and features a script written by Hobbs & Shaw screenwriter Drew Pearce. Lee Majors, who starred in the original TV show will also appear in the film.

The Fall Guy Synopsis: He’s a stuntman, and like everyone in the stunt community, he gets blown up, shot, crashed, thrown through windows and dropped from the highest of heights, all for our entertainment. And now, fresh off an almost career-ending accident, this working-class hero has to track down a missing movie star, solve a conspiracy and try to win back the love of his life while still doing his day job. What could possibly go right?

@SuperCat - You know what sucks? I saw this in the theater and laughed at this scene. Now I'm older than Danny Glover was when he said this line and I say it all the time and think of him.

Anyone who is old enough to have seen the original TV series will know that this movie is a terrible take on the source material. Why do directors think they can just change shit and think it’s going to be better, really it isn’t.

The movie does look fun imo so if it turns out well & is successful then sure , why not?.

The show itself was about a stuntman that moonlights as a bounty hunter which lends itself to some fun adventures imo!!.
