DIE HARD 5: Bruce Willis Brings a Unique Clip to David Letterman

John McClane, central character of the Die Hard films, books and comics, returns to the big screen for the fifth time this February in A Good Day to Die Hard. Bruce Willis appeared on David Letterman accompanied by a clip he says is from the film, which skewers a bit of pop culture.

I swear John Mcclain has to be the greatest action character ever created. I know it's ridiculous that this franchise is still going, and I'd love for them to end it with a heroic death, but I can't help get excited everytime a new die hard comes out. I want them to start doing crossovers, like John Mcclain vs Aliens, or the predator, or both. That my friends would be truly awesome.

@November

I agree with you on the crossover idea, great call! However, I would like it to be more grounded to reality.

Die Hard/Bond

Die Hard/Bourne

Die Hard/Kill Bill (oooooh heeeeeeell yeah!)

Hope Sam Jackson appears at the end and recruits John for the Avengers sequel. Something like "I've had my eye on you since your third movie."

I agree that somehow these films have managed to evolve as they've gone on. And as crazy as so much of Live Free or Die Hard was, it was just great fun, rooted by Bruce Willis' portrayal of McClane. You really could put McClane in almost any situation and it would probably work.

I think Willis gets pissy that he has to keep making these films, but he's also aware that their box office success provides him with the clout to do the "more artistic" projects he wants to do as well.

Nothing will beat the first Die Hard. It was ground breaking. It probably let to the creation of the Everyman action hero. Before then every action hero had to be a body building champion or martial artist.

No die hard villain has topped Hans Grueber!!

LOL! I hope Die Hard 5 turns out great. I love the trilogy.

I still need to go back and rewatch Die Hard 4. I feel like I need to give the movie another chance.

@AlexDeLarge I remember that movie from when I was kid. The inside of that castle at the end was a memorable set piece.

@EdGross You're right, even in a supermarket John McClane works:

;P

WOW!!!!!!!! that was shit.

You know it's gonna be a crapfest when they have to ridicule twilight for their promos. Don't have a decent clip from the film to actually stand behind. Die Hard 1 is the only one that matters to me - geez. crap. shit. yuck.

grabass, I think we can be confident that the clip was a staged one and not part of the actual film -- they're well aware that it would instantly date the film.

Loved Die Hard one, but with a vengeance is my favorite. Sam and Bruce have such great chemistry in it. Jeremy Irons is a badass villian too! Seen it a hundred times.
