The Lone Ranger will be released in theaters July 3, 2013. The film is being directed by Gore Verbinski and stars Armie Hammer as The Lone Ranger and Johnny Depp as Tonto. Also starring in the movie: Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper and Timothy Hutton.

After watching all the preview images and first trailer or so I was convinced this movie was going to tank. Now I'm thinking this could make some serious money, it looks beautifully shot and just screams summer blockbuster. Disney must have hired a new advertising department because this is streets ahead of John Carters trailers and destroys everything we've seen previously. All depends on the release date as to how high this bird can fly.

Its either going to be 1st POTC good or plain bad, it all depends on Depp performance as an Indian. Armie Hammer looks quite decent in his role tho.

Whats with all that jazzy footage in the beginning? This trailer revealed very little about the plot. Which could be a good thing I guess.

Looking good. And fortunately, this time it doesn't look like Tonto and His Sidekick that much. (Although the fact that Johnny Depp is the only one who gets the credit in that trailer does show.)

Verbinski seems like he put his all into those visuals cause it looks very stylized and almost art-house-y. ill give it a shot, it's either gonna be quality like pirates 1, or end up being wild wild west... here's hoping for the former.

@Jolt17 did we watch a different trailers? I saw Armie Hammer's name come up.

@Silentman I agree with that. Very stylised. I'm hoping with his direction on that front and the acting abilities of Hammer and Depp we'll be in for a very entertaining ride. If the script is solid it can't fail.

I can't say as to how much money it will make. All I can say is this looks like fun and I'll be seeing it if nothing else.

Boekelaar: My bad, I did miss that last bit of the trailer...in fairness, though, Depp is still the only one who gets that big credit before the title card pops up!

I understand the "star power" aspect, but I'm still bothered by the fact that Armie Hammer doesn't get that honor. Hell, giving him another big credit after Depp's would still suffice.

@Jolt17 well the movie is called 'The Lone Ranger' and not 'Tonto'. Hammer is a serious talent in my opinion and even if he doesn't get his due in the trailer I'm sure that the movie will help boost his profile.

@nailbiter111 I'm going to be very surprised if this tanks now. Good release date, better advertising, a Caribbean reference, barely a mention of Disney and Johnny Depp playing a weirdo. Disneys name will get better soon after their new slate of releases including the Marvel films but for right now it's very smart of them to downplay their involvement. People avoid Disney Live-action films that aren't for kids.
