In lieu of a teaser trailer, Lucasfilm instead opted to bring out Harrison Ford himself to debut the first look at Indiana Jones 5, the fifth and presumably final chapter in the iconic character's story, at Star Wars Celebration earlier this afteronon.
Along with the cool image, he reaffirmed that the sequel will indeed launch in theaters on June 30, 2023; and that post-production is nearly complete.
In addition to Ford as the headliner, the supporting cast will consist of Golden Globe-winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Solo: A Star Wars Story; Fleabag), BAFTA Film Award-nominee Mads Mikkelsen (Doctor Strange; Hannibal), Thomas Kretschmann (Avengers: Age of Ultron; Penny Dreadful: City of Angels), Boyd Holbrook (Logan; The Predator), Shaunette Renée Wilson (Black Panther; The Resident), Toby Jones (Captain America: The First Avenger; What If...?), Antonio Banderas (Uncharted; Puss in Boots: The Last Wish), and Oliver Richters (Black Widow; The King's Man).
2x Academy Award-nominee James Mangold (Logan; Ford v Ferrari) helmed the upcoming fifth chapter, taking the reins from 3x Academy Award-winner Steven Spielberg (Jurassic Park; Ready Player One), who directed the previous four installments.
Jonathan Kasdan (Solo: A Star Wars Story; The First Time) - the son of Raiders of the Lost Ark writer Lawrence Kasdan - recently touched up the script after original screenwriter David Koepp (Jurassic Park; Spider-Man) exited the project.
Spielberg will executive produce with Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel serving as producers.
Indiana Jones 5 is set to hit theaters on June 30, 2023.
