Outside of being linked to Iron Man over a decade ago, Tom Cruise has primarily stayed away from superhero movies, and while that shouldn't come as a big surprise to anyone who's followed his illustrious career, it does the beg the question of why.
Speaking with Jimmy Kimmel last night, the 3x Academy Award-nominee was asked whether he's ever had a serious conversation with either Marvel or DC to star in one of their films, and replied with a relatively firm no. When pressed on whether those kinds of films even interest him, he explained: "Look, I really enjoy those films, I enjoy them, but I make the Missions and the kind of Reacher... just different kinds of movies."
Fair enough and with a megastar resume that spans 30+ years and that, just in the past decade, includes a wide variety of critically acclaimed films like Edge of Tomorrow, two Mission: Impossibles, Tropic Thunder, Oblivion, Jack Reacher, and also has The Mummy & American Made on the docket for next year. it's easy to see why he's never felt the need to put on any sort of costume.
