WITHOUT REMORSE Star Michael B. Jordan Explains What He Learned Producing His First Action Movie

We were recently present at the global press conference for Without Remorse, and star and producer Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther) opened up on what exactly he learned producing his first action movie...

Tom Clancy's Without Remorse is the explosive origin story of action hero John Clark, one of the most popular characters in the author's Jack Ryan universe. In this movie, when a squad of Russian soldiers kills his family in retaliation for his role in a top-secret op, Sr. Chief John Kelly (Michael B. Jordan) pursues the assassins at all costs.

Joining forces with a fellow SEAL (Jodie Turner-Smith) and a shadowy CIA agent (Jamie Bell), Kelly’s mission unwittingly exposes a covert plot that threatens to engulf the U.S. and Russia in an all-out war. Torn between personal honor and loyalty to his country, Kelly must fight his enemies without remorse if he hopes to avert disaster and reveal the powerful figures behind the conspiracy.

Directed by Stefano Sollima, the action-packed movie hits Amazon Prime Video on April 30, and we were recently present for the global press conference. As well as starring in Without Remorse, Jordan also produces through his Outlier Society banner, and the Black Panther star was asked to explain what he learned from that experience.

"I think just being involved from the absolute beginning to the end. It was very hands-on in terms of how to build stunts and what the process would be," Jordan said. "Having experienced producers like Akiva Goldsman and Denis L. Stewart, people who have been through the process before and worked on high-stakes action movies [really helped]."

"I followed their lead on how to package together scenes, and it was like, 'We're going to create this intense airplane crash with the visual effects supervisor to work out that sequence and how we're going to practically shoot it. Alright, we're going to use the crane on this shot. We need water tanks, and this and that,'" he continued. "Going through the process of building that out was a learning curve for myself, so I walk away from this movie with more knowledge and experience of how to put those sequences and movies like this together. I know when to shut up and listen and learn so I was a sponge on this one, but I walked away with something we can be really happy about."

Jordan is definitely an actor who is taking a more hands-on approach in the world of filmmaking (he plans to step behind the camera to helm Creed III), so it's easy enough to understand why working as a producer on Without Remorse was so valuable to him.

Keep checking back here for more on the movie, including our review tomorrow!

Review embargo still holding strong. Don’t have a lot of faith in this movie but I’ll check it out.

@JoshWilding @RorMachine @KingPatel

Where are articles about Invincible? This animated show is damn great. Invincible needs more attention on this site.

@WaffeX - I agree with you on all levels. There was a few articles about Harley Quinn and a couple of Young Justice Season 3, but none on this show. There's no cause for that as it's still a comic book based iteration.

@WaffeX

I stopped trying after a week. Feel like if non-CBM stuff gets covered they should at least follow through on a pretty damn good CBTV show.

@WaffeX - This show is awesome, reminds me of the Boys on many levels. Hopefully season 2 isn’t years away

@regularmovieguy - yes,

I remember when this site posted weekly reviews of Scorpion and Dexter. This shows have nothing to do with Comic Book Movies, Fantasy or Science Fiction.

@MuadDib -

Robert Kirman: “The production timeline is somewhat daunting. I think that we spend a number of years developing and working on this season. As we hopefully move into season 2 and beyond, things will tighten. There’s definitely a lot less designing and different things that have to happen to move into our second season. And it’s entirely possible that there’s already work that has been done on the second season. So I think we’re in a good place to be moving forward were this show to end up being successful.”

This movie actually looks pretty good from a action popcorn flick point of view

I'll definitely give it a go. I always wanted a Chronicle sequel. Maybe that'll be something he can get behind and produce also. Still a good one off nonetheless

Didn't knew he was producing. Nor did I know Akiva Goldsman was. That makes it worth giving it a try I suppose
