It looks like Javier Bardem might still have a bone to pick with Jack Sparrow after Sparrow's last Pirates of the Caribbean adventure ended with Bardem's wife, Penélope Cruz (Esquire's Sexiest Woman Alive 2014), stranded on a deserted island.

His plans for revenge look to be coming to fruition sooner than later as earlier today, TheWrap reported that the Academy Award winner is in early talks to play the villain in 2017's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which will be the fifth installment in the billion-dollar Johnny Depp-led franchise. The role in question is that of Captain Brand, who is "a ghost bent on revenge against Capt. Jack Sparrow, who he holds responsible for the murder of his brother.

The fifth Pirates of the Carribbean adventure will see both Johnny Depp return as Captain Jack Sparrow and Geoffrey Rush return as Barbossa. Outside of them, it has been rumored that Orlando Bloom, Keith Richards, Ian McShane, and Stephen Graham may appear in some capacity.

Bardem, as many of you know is no stranger to playing the villain having played the iconic Anton Chigurh in No Country for Old Men & Raoul Silva in Skyfall. His casting would provide a more than formidable foe for Depp's Sparrow. What do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below!

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales releases July 7, 2017.

Fifth movie? There was only ever one Pirates Of The Caribbean movie and I refuse to believe otherwise. Next you'll be claiming they made sequels to The Matrix...

Thanos with a Spanish accent? That would be weird.

We still have GOTG 2 coming, no telling what other appearances he'll make. Patience is virtue.

@AlexanderLykins: Or Maybe all Titans have Spanish accents? Antonio Banderas would make a damn good Starfox.

I love all the Pirates films, I know many of them are terrible films. But I can't help it they are my guilty pleasures.

I wish we didn't actually see Thanos' face in GotG. He should've just been a big purple hand stroking a fluffy white cat, Blofeld style. That would've looked less cartoony.

Shouldn't Depp be auditioning for Dr. Strange? Seems like he needs to work.

I always thought this guy would make a good Dr. Strange.

I would have preferred they'd either kept Damion Poitier or put elaborate prosthetics on Brolin. I love the idea of Thanos actually looking alien, not just a swollen purple Josh Brolin. (Is it ironic that Poitier looks more alien than a computer generated character?)

Damn, I thought he would've been perfect for Apocalypse.

Ian McShane was in the fourth one? That almost makes want to acknowledge its existence long enough to watch it.

Wait. There was a fourth one? Seriously?

Bardem would make an awesome Two-Face.

Ah! It's the nose.....that's how you can tell them apart. Bardem has a scar on his nose....and also he's darker.

Didn't this guy once say he would never do a comic book adaptation or superhero films?

I wasn't 100% on him signing on for Apocalypse, so I left that part out of my last report. Buuuuuut there's still a chance, the Spanish acting giant is definitely of the same caliber as the likes of Brian Cox and Peter Dinklage, and other greats who've menaced the X-verse. Still I'm not sure if he would do the motion capture though, he seems like a purist that way

I dig it. I mean, I still thing the first one was the only truly, completely good film of the 4, but I love the franchise enough where I'm willing to give it another go, especially with him on board… Pun intended.

"Javier comes from a family of actors whose strong political views at times landed them in trouble."

Gotta respect him for that, not changing your views to appease the Hollywood elites or tiptoe around the fragile ego of an entire people. Mad props to Spain for exporting this monolithic titan of the industry, and mad props to the Jews for giving us Seth Rogen. That guy's funny as shit. Both of you settle your differences and get back to making shitty food with your annoying wives.
