As expected, Keanu Reeves' criticlally-acclaimed action threequel, John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, is exceeding expectations at the box office and is now all set to win the weekend with a phenomenal $57 million domestic debut, nearly doubling the opening of its predecessor, John Wick: Chapter 2 ($30.4M), and quadrupling the launch of the original John Wick ($14.4M).

Internationally, the Chad Stahelski-directed blockbuster pulled in a stellar $35 million, bringing its current worldwide total to an estimated $92 million and putting it on pace to become the highest-grossing film in the entire franchise.

John Wick has also pulled off another major feat, finally taking the box office crown from Marvel's Avengers: Endgame, which earned a respectable $29.4 million in its fourth frame. Its worldwide haul currently stands at $2.614 billion ($770M domestic; $1.844B foreign) and is only $173 million from toppling James Cameron's Avatar to become the highest-grossing film of all-time.

@Kyos - Doesnt look like its gonna make it alteast the experts think its gonna come up just short.

Avatar's re release making 33 extra million will probably be the difference.

Endgame can say they are biggest movie of all time on a single run without a re release I guess.

And with Disney owning Avatar and the movie being 3 hours long already doubt they would re release it with no footage to try and get the record.

Really would suck if it comes up like 20 mill short.

@Chris827 - From this point on Infinity War made another $80M domestically, and the original Avengers around $110M. We're still just in the 4th weekend of Endgame's release. We'll see.

@Tcb97 - If Endgame does indeed pass Avatar it will do it walking or crawling not running. Legs are out of juice.

@Tcb97 - hopefully it’ll beat Avatar without needing a re-release. Avatar made something like $2.74B before it added another $40M on re-release. There’s always the option of a re-release in the late fall timeframe for Endgame, but it’d be great if it can beat Avatar clean.

@2050 - i think it’s gonna best Avatar clean, we are close and the game isn’t over yet, in a month and half we can probably even expect a little boost from the release of Spiderman

@Tcb97 - Who plans on rewatching Endgame during the week?

@SonOfAGif - I've seen it two times now, definitely going for a third watch before it leaves theaters. Thing is, I watch almost all new releases that come out, so May is pretty crowded. So far I have watched 40 movies in 2019, with Endgame being my most favorite as of right now.

Each new JW film is better than the last one imo. Outstanding performance at the box office, can't believe how big this franchise has gotten. It's well deserved.
Seriously hope Godzilla:KOTM overperforms next weekend.
