Deadline is reporting that Shamier Anderson (Wynonna EarpGoliath) has joined the cast of Lionsgate's hotly-awaited John Wick: Chapter 4 in what's being described as a major role opposite Keanu Reeves' (The Matrix; Speed) titular assassin.

In a statement, returning director Chad Stahelski said, “It’s a thrill to be working with an actor of Shamier’s caliber. He’s proven exceptional with drama and action and is a compelling presence on screen."

He's the latest new face to join the acclaimed action franchise, following Donnie Yen (Rogue One: A Star Wars StoryxXx: The Return of Xander CageMulan), who is playing an old friend of John Wick's, and newcomer Rina Sawayama as the unnamed female lead.

No word on any potential returning cast members, but it seems probable that some combination of Halle Berry, Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne, Asia Kate Dillon, Lance Reddick, and Jason Mantzoukas will also be back in some capacity, reprising their roles from John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum.

Chad Stahelski will return to the director's chair, this time utilizing a screenplay from Shay Hatten and Michael Finch. Stahelski co-directed the first installment and solo directed Chapter 2 and Chapter 3

Plot details remain locked away in the deepest corners of The Continental, but filming is scheduled to begin later this summer on location in France, Germany, and Japan.

John Wick: Chapter 4 is currently scheduled to hit theaters on May 27, 2022.

Speaking of Keanu Reeves, when we going to get any updates on The Matrix 4? It's my second most anticipated of the year behind No Way Home.

I hope in either Chapter 4 or 5 we get to see John Wick go back to Belarus. We know from Anjelica Hustons character in chapter 3 that he was born Jardani Jovonovich. I dont really want them to explain anymore of John's backstory then we already know, but I want to see him going all Eastern Promises on some gangsters.

Kind of missed his character when he was killed off on Wynonna Earp. Be interesting to see him and what he has to offer in the next Wick movie.

I hope they bring back Common, his character was good in Chapter 2

He kinda strikes me like he could play the reluctant ally of John. Like he doesn't want to fight, but eventually helps John. And even if I'm wrong, I'm still lookimg forward to it
