Have it subtitled. Good flick. Has a familiar look from Jet Li's Fist of Legend. Not trying to spoil, but he uses the kato outfit from a store window just to obviously hide who he is but he isn't G H's kato.

YEAH BABY!!!! Been waiting for this film ever since i first saw Ip Man!!! Trailer was right before the film on the DVD and Donnie Yen just blew my head clean off in Ip Man so i can't wait to see him in this film!!! I mean, obviously he's always been good but ever since Ip Man, i don't know, it's like he turned into this charisma heavy super star all of a sudden! Legend of the Fist will definitely be going up in my collector's edition Bluray pile :))

This is going to be awesome! He is truly, slowly but surely perfecting his craft. He is the innovator of the modern Kung Fu action film.

ThaMessenger07 - 3/3/2011, 8:43 AM
P.S. This is actually a sequel to Fist Of Fury which was a 1995 series based on Bruce Lee's Character from the movie with the same title.

LEEE- Thank ya kindly! And yeah, watch Ip Man before i break your hip LMAO ;P

ThaMessenger07- Well which is it... a sequel to Fist Of Fury or a sequel to Fist of Legend???
smgmayhem
smgmayhem - 3/3/2011, 9:43 AM
@Shaman Fist of fury was actually the archetype for the rest of the sequels that were made. Jet Li also made a movie called "Fearless" which is based on the life of Huo which is Chen Zhen's master in the movies. "Fist of Legend" is actually a remake of Bruce Lee's version.
And Jackie Chan also did a sequel to Fist of Fury but it was panned by critics and fans.

Isn't Chen Zhen Bruce Lee's character from Chinese Connection? Now he's rocking a Kato costume. It's probly a pretty kick-ass movie, but does anyone else see what i'm sayin? Just curious.
smgmayhem
smgmayhem - 3/3/2011, 9:50 AM
@Shaman I would have to say it is a sequel to Bruce Lee's Fist of Fury. Because in the end he jumps toward the police and all you hear is gunfire so you assume hes dead. But to put the saga in order watch Fearless, Fist of Fury, and then Legend of the Fist.

@ otakx3r0: yes sir he is Lee's character from CC
Shaman
Shaman - 3/3/2011, 10:19 AM
Woah, thanks guys! Man, i had no idea their movies were so connected like that! And we can't even get DC/WB to make a goddamn Batman movie with Superman in it LMAO ;P

smgmayhem- Thanks for all that info, i just might go through all those in order ;)

But i'm REALLY not a fan of Jet Li. I just feel he's "meh". He lacks... "something". It's like watching a JeeJa Yanin film. Yeah she's good, but she'll never be as good as Tony Jaa. Tony has that "something" that makes him just special. The same "something" that Bruce Lee had as well as Donnie Yen. The same "something" that Jackie Chan will never have no matter what he does to get it LOL It's probably the "Star-Factor" like Simon says :P
ThaMessenger07
ThaMessenger07 - 3/3/2011, 10:49 AM
@ Shaman: Li's Old stuff before the accident and overkill on rope work is awesome. He isn't quite Jackie but his stunts are stupendous!!!

Li is still not in my top 10 though.

ThaMessenger07- Don't get me wrong, he has his skills. He just has zero presence on screen. That's more along the line of what i was talking about. Li as well as Jackie can fight like the best of them, but they're both like Sammo Hung, they just kinda suck to look at when they aren't fighting. They have a lot of trouble "acting" their parts. They just don't breathe life into their roles like Yen, Lee and Jaa do. At least from my perspective that is ;)

I still enjoyed Li in "The One" very much. I think that's his single decent performance ever. The rest just seems like the same void acting as he always does. I need more than just spectacular fighting in a film. And Donnie gave more of that "something" in Ip Man than i've ever seen before, in ANY asian martial arts film(except Japanese films as they are more emotion oriented). I was finally overjoyed to see a chinese martial arts film take itself seriously and an actor give out a heart wrenchingly convincing performance like Bruce Lee has always done and Tony Jaa as well, hell even surpassing them. Li and Jackie will never be able to pull that off. Jackie tried in Karate Kid and to me, he was laughable. Jackie's good for funny action flicks but he can't sell emotion. And neither can Li in my book.
ThaMessenger07
ThaMessenger07 - 3/3/2011, 11:39 AM
@ Shaman: I completely Agree they are not very strong actors. While not even jokingly Jaa genuinely looks pissed off that they stole his elephant and statue lmao. It's true he is a believable actor as are the others you mentioned.
