FURIOSA: First Set Photos From George Miller's MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Prequel Take Us Back To The Wasteland

With production now underway on George Miller's Fury Road spinoff, the first set photos have found their way online. None of the main cast have been spotted (yet), but these are still well worth a look.

With cameras now rolling on George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road spinoff, Furiosa, in New South Wales, and the first photos from the set have found their way online.

While these shots don't feature any of the movie's main stars, they do give us a look at some of the locations, vehicles and extras we'll see when we return to the post-apocalyptic Wasteland in 2024. There's a group of bikers (wouldn't be a Mad Max movie without 'em, after all), a foreboding-looking gate, and a car that looks quite a bit like Max's signature V8 Interceptor.

Of course, this being a prequel set before the events of Fury Road, The Road Warrior is highly unlikely to appear. There's a chance Tom Hardy agreed to a cameo and his involvement was successfully kept under wraps, but since Miller's masterpiece was supposed to be the first time Max laid eyes on Furiosa, it wouldn't make much sense for him to show up.

Anya Taylor-Joy (The New Mutants, The Northman) will star as a younger version of the titular one-armed warrior before she became Immortan Joe's most feared Imperator, while Chris Hemsworth (Thor: Love and Thunder, Avengers: Endgame) will costar. His role hasn't been confirmed, but a previous casting call indicated that he would play a villain named Dementus, who is described as being "breathtakingly handsome. An angel’s face, scarred by a deep forehead wound, stitched together with shiny chrome staples."

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman, The Matrix Resurrections) was also set to appear before being forced to drop out of the project due to a scheduling conflict, and was replaced by British TV actor Tom Burke.

Furiosa is set to hit theatres on May 24, 2024.
