FURIOSA Set Photos Show Chris Hemsworth Atop A Huge Monster Truck And We May Finally Know Who He's Playing

The latest round of Furiosa set photos offer us our best look yet at Chris Hesmworth's character, and we may finally have a better idea about who the Thor: Love and Thunder star is playing in the prequel.

Anticipation for Mad Max: Fury Road spinoff Furiosa is revving up in a big way, and another round of set photos have now found their way online (via SFFGazette.com). Shared on social media, these shots offer a closer look at Chris Hemsworth's villainous character, though the consensus now is that he's likely playing the Warlord Dementus and not Immortan Joe.

In the movie, Anya Taylor-Joy's Furiosa looks set to find herself caught in the middle of a war between the two tyrants in this prequel, and Hemsworth's Biker Horde leader certainly looks formidable. A warlord of the Wasteland who kidnaps the future Imperator Furiosa from the Green Place, Dementus' forces arrive at the Citadel and come into conflict with Immortan Joe.

Regardless of who the Thor: Love and Thunder star is playing, he certainly looks at home on that massive monster truck.

It's quite the transformation for Hemsworth, though Anya Taylor-Joy was also recently photographed on the set of Furiosa as the movie's title character, and she too looks quite a bit different to her usual self.

The actor appears to be enjoying taking on antagonist roles, as the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel follows Spiderhead, the Netflix movie that saw him play a full-blown villain. Dementus certainly looks a far cry from the MCU's God of Thunder, anyway, and we can't wait to see some official imagery from this one.

"As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus," reads a recently released synopsis. "Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home."

Cameras are rolling on Furiosa, and it's currently set to be released in theaters on May 24, 2024.

@grif - Pretty much the same for me.
I like the world, but I'd rather see "The Wasteland" movie Miller was teasing awhile back.

I'm just not very interested in Furiosa's backstory. It's like, I enjoyed Aunty Entity in Thunderdome, but would I be interested in a prequel in how she came to power? Meh. Not really.

Just give me more Max having new adventures in that [frick]ed up world and I'm happy!

@grif - thats a weird stance since he barely has a role in these movies outside of the original. Hell, he famously only had 14 lines in mad max 2, and fury road didn't change that.

@Origame - yeah Max became supporting character in Road Warrior. Kind like the Man of No Name where other others characters are the main characters but see see it through his eyes.

I’d rather see an actual Mad Max movie… like one where he’s the main protagonist. Fury Toad was ok but didn’t feel like Max was even the main character.

@slickrickdesigns - I don't know where people are getting this view of mad max from. He's never the protagonist in these movies.

@Origame - I’m guessing you’ve never seen the first three Mad Max films

@slickrickdesigns - ...have you? Max was always the POV character in those movies. In fact he only had 14 lines in Mad Max 2.

Hemsworth was a full-blown villain in Spiderhead? Thought he was just a guy that really wanted to push his product onto the market. If that's villainous, then we're doomed

Furiosa sounds like it could be interesting, but after the length of time since the first movie came out, all I want to see of this world is more of Tom Hardys Max!

That was the one thing I took away from Fury Road was that I wanted to see more of Hardy's Max. I know a sequel is kinda confirmed but still.
