Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller recently confirmed that he is planning a Furiosa-centric prequel that'll focus on a younger incarnation of the one-armed warrior before she became Immortan Joe's most feared Imperator, and Deadline now reports that the spinoff is officially a go at Warner Bros.

The trade also confirms quite a few casting rumors that have been doing the rounds, as Anya Taylor-Joy (The New Mutants, Glass) will indeed play the younger version of Furiosa, while Chris Hemsworth (Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Endgame) and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen, Aquaman) will join her in undisclosed roles.

No details on Hemsworth or Abdul Mateen's characters were revealed, but previous casting calls indicated that the latter would play a villain named Dementus, who is described as being "breathtakingly handsome. An angel’s face, scarred by a deep forehead wound stitched together with shiny chrome staples."

There's no timetable for a production start, but the project is said to be in "advance development." Miller is expected to begin prep as soon as he's done filming his current movie, Three Thousand Years of Longing.

What do you guys make of this news? Do you think Taylor-Joy is a good choice to play Furiosa in Charlize Theron's stead? Be sure to share your thoughts down below.

George Miller = set hype thrusters to Max

Cool cast, like Anya Taylor-Joy a lot. Yahya's got the best agent in Hollywood at this point with how many big projects he's booking lol. Wonder if Hemsworth is the bad guy

That’s a hell of a cast for a Mad Max spin-off. I assume even though we are going back in time quite a bit that the world will look mostly the same and not like the original Mad Max.
