The New Mutants star Anya Taylor-Joy has delivered stellar performances in the likes of Last Night in Soho and The Queen's Gambit, singling her out as a true force to be reckoned with on screen. With that in mind, we have no doubt she'll do a great job taking over from Charlize Theron in next year's Mad Max: Fury Road prequel, Furiosa.

The actress recently wrapped shooting the spin-off, and there's tonnes of excitement among fans to see what she will bring to the table as Imperator Furiosa.

Talking to IndieWire (via SFFGazette.com), Taylor-Joy reflected on the unique experience of making the movie.

"I’ve been on a different planet for the last seven months," she tells the site. "I think I need to sit down and attempt to try and digest what’s happened over the last seven months. But I’m incredibly, incredibly proud of it, and so proud of all of the people I got to work with, and just the amount of love and effort and work that went into it, I’m excited to see it."

"It’s the dirtiest and the bloodiest I have ever been, which is saying something, genuinely saying something. Any time I get to be dirty or bloody and not perfectly prim and pretty, I’m just having a ball, that’s where I feel most comfortable," the actress continues. "So yeah, ‘Furiosa’ was definitely right up my street."

Interestingly enough, Taylor-Joy would go on to say that, despite playing a character best known for her impressive driving skills, she doesn't actually know how to drive a car.

"I don’t actually have a license, so I can’t drive. I can’t on a highway, I can’t parallel park, but if you need me to do a juicy 180 in a truck, I can do that and not hit the camera people, which is great," she says with a laugh. "[In] terms of first cars, I think I’m quite spoiled in the fact that they were built by the ‘Mad Max’ art department."

A first look at Furiosa has to be somewhere on the horizon, though we don't necessarily expect that to land until well into 2023, unfortunately. It sounds like the cast had a great time making this prequel, anyway, and it's not exactly a stretch to assume filmmaker George Miller will deliver something special with this movie.

Furiosa is set to be released in theaters on May 24, 2024.

I keep forgetting this movie's coming out. I'm sure it will be frantic and totally nuts. Fury Road i felt was so much better than it deserved to be. Miller is pretty consistent, Happy Feet 2 aside.

The amount I don't care about this is insane. inb4 "tHeN wHy ARe You POSting aboUT thIs?" comments. Because I saw it and I can't believe they are making this like anyone really cares about Furiosa in a Mad Max universe, let alone one not played by Theron.
